UFC Statement

So, can we just give GSP the GOAT moniker now? I mean, come on now.

Oh, and Diaz failed a post-fight test for weed, which is irrelevant.

Anderson Silva is still the GOAT. Win or lose this fight didn't affect that status. He has a guy all hopped up on coke nipping at his heels for that title though.

Maybe GSP too...I don't know.

Fedor was just such an innovator, he was the first fighter to be the elite striker and grappler of a division. That was really innovative for its time, but even guys to this day have to follow that path to become the champion. GSP. Jon Jones. Chris Weidman. Frankie Edgar. Dominick Cruz.

Fedor was the first to fulfill the role of the ideal fighter.

Didn't the UFC just announce they are no longer testing out of fight competition? Too expensive, gotta worry about 115lb women fights and uniform militarization. What a joke, I'm against steroid use but if you allow these guys to use it year round except in camp when only A FEW ARE CHOSEN TO BE TESTED ON EACH FIGHT CARD....we're talking 3-6 guys out of the average 24 fighters per card...it's a joke, the sports world doesn't even want to stop it, year by year steroids will become "safer" "normal" and "justified" until the media, unions and general public doesn't turn against it. You'll have every athlete as scientifically altered as they can be and money will play a huge part in it and THE PLAYING FIELD WILL NOT BE REMOTELY EQUAL FOR ANYONE. Skill won't matter much, it will become pointless. I'd say we have a good 50-100 years of sports left at best unless something crazy happens.

I wish....Jones, Weidman and Rousey would go on Strike, and not fight until the UFC had randomized, year round, blood and urine tests for all contracted athletes. With a high minimum amount of testing for each fighter. Maybe cut WADA into this regime....my god do something besides talk your politically correct ******** in a suit at a UFC press conference.

So just had this thought:

If Diaz's post-fight drug results came in already, why does it take this long to complete tests from when the samples were collected on the 9th and 19th? Clearly, nothing suspicious there.

I've never been a big fan of Silva, but I honestly don't understand people who are ready to discredit all of his accomplishments in the sport due to him failing a drug test at almost 40 years old, way past his prime, coming back from a gruesome injury that would end most peoples careers in the sport, going into a fight against a lifetime welterweight. If he had failed a drug test in his prime I would be right there with everyone else ready to feed him to the lions for his **** up, but to me, this is almost not worth caring over. It would be like if Fedor had failed a drug test leading up to his fight with Pedro Rizzo. Does it put a black eye on his legacy? Sure, but does it completely discredit everything he'd done up until that point? I don't think so. Personally, I think this looks worse on the UFC than it does Silva. They were 100% aware he was on steroids and allowed the fight to take place regardless, because profit. Has there ever in UFC history been a fighter who failed a pre fight drug test for steroids who was still allowed to fight? I can't recall a single time that's ever happened. I can't wait to hear Dana & Co. try to save face by throwing one of their highest grossing and most popular fighters ever under the bus by claiming "We didn't know", and "It came as just a big of a shock to us as it did anyone."

I laughed out loud reading the UFC statement on Diaz... "The UFC has a strict , consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs" ANY ILLEGAL AND/OR. What happened with Jon Jones then, guys?

"The UFC has been notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that Nick Diaz has tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 183 on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas, Nev. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by our athletes. As a result of his positive test, Diaz has been informed that he has violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. The UFC organization will fully respect the Commission’s final decision relating to Diaz at a disciplinary hearing set for February 17."

Funny I wonder why they never notified Jon Jones that he violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy....
