That's awesome. Doesn't hurt that they advertised the **** out of it during the NFC Championship game.

Looks like McGregor got a nice payday out of it too. $85k show money for him, but Henderson and Tibau making less than $50k for show money.

The peak number (3.1M) was about the avg. number from the last UFC on FOX event (2.8M). Basically, this event was consistent with an average big FOX show with a fraction of the viewership reach.

the UFC must be thrilled with the numbers, he's probably thinking why he didn't make it a PPV, but they'll make it up with Aldo vs Conor

Aldo vs. McGregor? Why not put him up against Edgar or Mendes? Get some more ratings like this.

This probably in all honesty would have been the most watched MMA event on TV ever if they had put this on Fox.

We'll see if it will translate to big PPV number for Aldo vs. McGregor.

I still think people (including Conor) claiming it could surpass the 750k+ number pulled in by Jones/Cormier are wack. But I could see it topping 500k with the right promotion and a solid supporting card.

Really, anything over 400k to me would be a resounding success for the sub 170 weight classes. Nobody except BJ Penn at 155 and below has been able to draw above that number. They usually hover around 200k, including Aldo, Cruz, Faber, etc.

I'm no authority or soothsayer on these things, let me state that first.  But I think that maybe it will take a little time for Conor to generate really big PPV numbers.  I don't know that they can do 750K buys with McGregor vs Aldo.

But, after a couple more fights, sure, why not.  The man has got the "it" factor. People want to see him.

just to be clear, I wasn't saying that if it would have been a PPV it would've pulled the same numbers I just meant that it would have sold good, better than a lot of PPV's they put on last year. I think Aldo vs Conor will be between 500 and 600k

The prelims also hit a decent number and they went head to head with the AFC championship.

I will say this Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor will be the highest selling Featherweight headlined PPV in UFC history. I believe the current record is UFC 159 Aldo vs Edgar with 330,000 buys, anything over that number will be considered a smash out of the park.

For some reason I think Conor's first headlining PPV will be around the same as Rousey's first PPV, which was around 450k.

Conor seems to be crossing over and connecting with the same type of people that were curious about Rousey and her personality and ability.
