I was really hoping this fight would take place sooner. Seems like an unnecessarily long layoff for both buys, but Aldo does take a lot of time off between fights and McGregor's earned a brief reprieve after 3 fights in 183 days.

Both of these guys are the best striker the other has ever faced. Should be interesting to say the least. I think McGregor will outclass Jose though. Time will tell.

Aldo's leg kicks versus McGregor's counter-left hook. **** like this never happens.

This is literally a battle between the two best strikers in the division, and both fighters' greatest strengths match their opponent's greatest weakness.

This will be quite the fight to watch.

EDIT: I also believe that McGregor's strength is likelier to take advantage of Aldo's weakness than vice-versa. While McGregor does have a great shot at becoming the champion, I can't picture him holding that title for long; Mendes and Edgar would both thoroughly destroy McGregor.

I think it is also worth mentioning that over the last 7 years Aldo has only faced 1 southpaw (Kenny Florian). By the numbers the striking in that fight was very close and Aldo only landed 8 leg kicks in the 25 minute fight. This could be a big factor in limiting Aldo's biggest weapon. The question for me that will make all the difference is which fighter will be faster.

Anyone notice that little girl like reaching out for McGregor when he got in Aldo face? I think that might have been Aldo daughter? either way, that looked funny to me and was wondering if anyone else saw that.

Kenny was shooting for takedowns though and Kenny had been in his last few fights using his wrestling prior to there match up. So Aldo not throwing to many leg kicks was likely part of his game plan, so that does not mean much for this fight since Connor not one who has shown to look for take downs. Nor is he known for his ground skills. Kenny was known for his ground skills and later in his career after training at tristar began shooting on people a lot more. He tried several times against BJ and he was looking to take Aldo down during there fight as well. So I would put very little stock into the Kenny fight, because him and connor have very different styles and game plans.

I can DEFINITELY picture that happening because of the way Aldo used wrestling in the final round of the Hominick fight. It's almost as though his wrestling is something that should only be used as an emergency or to catch his opponent completely off-guard, and the latter would definitely work against McGregor.

He also out wrestled Lamas several times in their bout. I think he'll be able to stifle Conor's striking with the leg kicks, but if not, the ground game will be the difference here.
