Joanna doesn't have much of a chance here. Maybe in the first round or two. But she gasses, and Carla is a great wrestler. Carla will take her down at will. Maybe even get a sub at some point. I don't expect it to be the most exciting fight ever, but Carla will get it done. Terrible match-up for such a strong muay thai fighter.

I agree with Mike. I thought Claudia Gadelha outgrappled Joanna and should have won the decision, don't see her getting past Carla.

Haven't really been impressed with Joanna. She's had her moments, but she's kinda just squeaked by in both her UFC fights.

That being said, she's probably the most deserving contender

Don't think she squeaked by her first fight and squeaking by Gadelha is something I don't see anyone else in the division doing.

Also, getting out grappled by her isn't such a tell either since I believe Claudia to be best grappler in the division. Carla has dat wrasslin but I believe this fight is where her size and athleticism disadvantage shows and she doesn't get the takedowns she's used to getting.

I agree with all your assessments pre-fight, but have a feeling Joanna will beat Carla by leaving her no choice but to strike with her.

Not sure yet here. I'd like to see Joanne but Esparza's wrestling might be tough for he to deal with and tire her late.

I agree Joanne "squeaked" out her first two UFC tilts but she fought A game Lima (who's only other loss is to Killer Bunny) and Claudia who was supposed to be the baddest ***** in the division..

I do think she out strikes the division. The difference I see, yoss, is the diversity of Carla's takedowns vs the brazilians. She can hit the TDs from the clinch or shoots set up from strikes at distance. .North American/folk style wrestlers and freestyle wrestlers aren't as reliant as clinch or in close TDs like many Greco, BJJ and Judoka TDs. Folk style wrestlers also seem to have to best base for top control as the score from riding time.

If Joanne spends too much time defending TDs and fighting back to her feet I can see her striking losing a lot of steam and wear down late.

I personally don't see Jedrzejczyk(or as I like to call her, Jaggerjack) having any chance here. Other than one really good punch Gadelha mostly controlled her. Esparza is going to grind her down and against Namajunas Esparza did a really good job of constantly hitting her on breaks from clinches or when she was getting up from takedowns, and I see that working well against Jaggerjack too.
