I know nothing about Nakai. But she seems undersized for the division.

I'm sure Masakazu Sakai had his hand in letting Rin sign with the UFC. He's been very vocal he wanted to adapt the cage so Japanese fighters can adapt to it and that he was open to letting Pancrase fighters sign with the UFC.

Regardless; one of them is getting their first UFC win. Tate didn't beat Carmouche.

I'm actually chuffed that Nakai's coming over.

I think the UD over D'Alelio and the LaRosa wins are totally legit (not "AAAHHH WAR NAKAI! NEXT CHAMP", but definitely legit compared to how she's been protected so far in her career).

At least we'll get to see just how good she is (or isn't) because she's not going to be protected in the UFC and she's definitely better than a few of the other girls in the division while also being a bigger name, so why not?Why Jessamyne Duke yes and Nakai no?

And as for Tate not beating Carmouche ... pfffffft ...

I thought Tate beat Carmouche, rounds 2 and 3.

As for this fight, should be a good one, I would like to see Nakai move to 115 after this.

@mikey, I don't know man ... she's quite stocky, I think she's best suited at 125, but she wouldn't be the first 125er that fights at 135 in the UFC and she also fought at 135 outside the UFC so maybe she's not in love with weight cutting (it's actually quite common for Japanese fighters to fight much closer to their natural weights instead if hunting for non-natural advantages, kind of a Samurai spirit thing).

If she's been hesitant to fight at 125, I don't see her going a full 20lbs off where she's fighting now ... also ... dem bewbs ... must be a solid 5-7lbs right there, amirite? ;)

I would assume a big reason they don't cut weight in Japan is due to being deducted like 50% of your purse and automatically DQed giving you 0 chance to win the fight. You can't pull out of the bout because I assume all organizations would blacklist you.

but her Judo is very good, dont be surprised if we see Tate get tossed around a few time going in for takedowns the way she did against Ronda in the second fight...

Looks like the biggest fan service match; the weigh-ins will have more hype than the actual match given Nakai is virtually unknown; still, she's built like a bowling ball and looks crazy tough but have to go with the proven vet barring jetlag (which is apparently a factor)

When there's a round where a fighter gets a couple takedowns but doesn't pass or do much of anything, and their opponents have a submission attempt and more strikes, they aren't winning. Carmouche was that fighter.
