I went back all the way to the 20th page and didn't see anyone who started a thread about movies. If there is one, just let this thread sink away into the abyss of thread history, but if not, this is something we can talk about. We've got one for every sport, music, and TV shows. So I figured might as well.

The new film isn't funny, it's feminist garbage and the men are hapless idiots.

It spit on the original.

I though it was pretty damn funny and the men being idiots didn't bother me because I'm not a *****.

It was clearly feminist propaganda film and the comedy was cringey as ****. I mean there's no accounting for taste I suppose.

I saw the remake. Thought it was awful. They didn't do the original justice, or even give it the respect it deserves. I don't care that the Ghostbusters were all female, or that all the men were stupid. It just didn't deliver for me. I was one of the people that was set on NOT seeing it, but I caved, and I saw it, and I regret it.

Ghostbusters 1 & 2 are two of my favorite movies, especially 1, and I hate to see the series used like this as a weak cash-grab (imo). They could have done something similar to this, but involved all the original Ghostbusters and kinda pass the series onto the new cast. But the remake we got was, to me, pretty ass. I laughed one or two times throughout the whole movie. I also thought the characters were just annoying as ****. I actually thought Hemsworth was the best part of the entire movie, which is ******* saying something.

Hemsworth was hilarious in it and I thought Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon were funny as well. I love the og Ghostbusters, I saw it in the theater when it was first released and have seen it 100 times since. The 2nd is ok but is a rather weak follow up. The movie was loaded with a lot of easter eggs maybe a little too many and there some jokes that definitely fell flat but it was absolutely a solid movie for me. A lot better than most the big summer movies this year. Independence Day was way worse and it was better than Tarzan, **** there are far worse remakes and sequels than Ghostbusters.

Like I said, there's no accounting for taste.

P.S. Safe spaces are for the SJW's and feminists who made this film, oddly enough you sound like you need one after I criticized a film that only SJW's and tasteless hacks like.

Hoping to see Suicide Squad this weekend despite all the terrible reviews. I honestly enjoyed Batman vs Superman despite Jesse Eisenberg absolutely butchering his role as Lex Luthor. I wish they would've gone with Bryan Cranston like it was originally rumored, but I'll wait and see how Eisenberg does when he inevitably returns to the series before completely writing him off.

I have no interest in SS but am curious to see how it does at the box office.

@MikeyG you clearly need a safe space after Ghostbusters hit one of your triggers. I'm sorry strong women intimidate you.

As far as Suicide Squad it will like break 100 million this weekend. Losing China will cost it nearly 200 million at the global Box Office.

Losing China is a big blow. It's going to have a huge opening weekend, but I'd guess the second-weekend drop will be 60%. Not going to have long legs. I've seen reports it needs to earn $750M worldwide to be a hit for the studio.

I saw SS last night with my friend who got screener tix. It was...okay. Not as bad as some critics have reported, but definitely was very sloppy. The editing was really rough. Lots of weird cuts that didn't make a lot of sense. Leto was pretty good as Joker, but he's in the movie for like 20 minutes. The first 30-45 minutes were pretty fun, the last hour dragged for me. See it for yourself, make up your own mind. It's probably like a 5/10 for me.

I just saw Suicide Squad, I was really looking forward to it but left dissapointed. It's not terrible but it's just OK, I was hoping DC would be able to get back to close to the level it was at under Nolan. One of the main villains is a terrible CGI mess as is the final battle. Some of the members of the squad are completely under developed leaving almost no emotional weight to anything. The development on one of the villains is pretty much non existent.

They had a small-scale script waiting to be adapted. Set it in Arkham and make Joker the main villain.

I've seen tons of movies but three out right now people should check out.

"Don't Breathe" an intense twist on the home invasion thriller when three robbers get way more than they bargained for when they break into the home of a blind Iraq war veteran. Edge of your seat tension.

"Hell or Highwater" this is only in limited release but is a great dramatic crime thriller about brothers who rob banks to pay off their family farm and the Texas who persue them. Just an amazing drama worth watching starring Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges.

"Kubo and the Two Strings" a beautiful and dark fanatsy adventure film from Laika studios who specialize in stop motion animation. It's gorgeous to look at plus it's amazing fun with a great mythology.
