You know the drill. Prelims kick off on Spike.com at 7pm followed by the main card at 9pm on Spike TV.

Decent card. I think the co-main is going to steal the show.

From what I'm hearing neither Silva or Oropeza made weight. So the 1/2 interim title fight deal is in effect for this event. So only Warren is fighting for the interim title where Silva is just fighting I guess not to lose his title shot.

http://www.mmaweekly.com/bellator-118-weigh-in-results-joe-warren-still-on-for-title-fight-but-opponent-rafael-silva-is-not

The Bellator 118 weigh-in from Atlantic City, N.J. is in the books. After some drama at Thursday’s festivities, the interim bantamweight belt is still in play… for Joe Warren, but not for Rafael Silva.

Warren, who was originally supposed to challenge champion Eduardo Dantas for his belt, stepped on the scale at 134.6 pounds, officially making weight for the interim title fight. Dantas was forced to withdraw due to a head injury suffered during training.

Silva, however, did not hit the mark. He weighed in at 136.9 pounds, almost two full pounds over the 135-pound limit for a bantamweight title bout.

As a consequence, New Jersey made the same determination that Texas was going to make when Johny Hendricks nearly missed weight for his UFC 171 welterweight title fight. The fight will go on, but only Warren can win the belt.

Having met his championship obligation, Warren will win the interim belt if he wins the fight. Should Silva win, however, he gets a W on his record, but receives no belt, since he failed to make weight.

“Rafael Silva is a warrior.  He was offered this opportunity three weeks ago when Dantas was injured,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “He had a tremendous amount of weight to cut and got incredibly close, but to push for the last two pounds would simply have been medically unsafe

“Another great warrior here, Joe Warren made weight, so the belt remains in the line for Joe. We always have a contingency plan in place for instances like this, and we are moving ahead with this five-round fight, which should be fireworks.”

Additionally, Justin Baesman has replaced Sam Oropeza, who for the third time in four fights also failed to make weight. Baesman replaces Oropeza and will face Andrey Koreshkov in the Bellator welterweight semifinals.

Is the Koreshkov fight not going to be pickable?

No individual bout that gets added inside of 12 hours from the event start date is pickable.  I'm sure Skelliher will get the updates in soon, but these bouts are beyond the 12 hour deadline.

It's to ensure that everyone has a fair playing field for competing on the site.

Alrighty. I was just wondering because I'm driving to North Carolina in an hour, so I wouldn't get the picks in.

To the FC Editors:  For events that have changes under the 12 hour limit (which is perfectly reasonable), how silly would it be to add an "event(s)" titled something like "Tapology's Extras" or something like that to the data base on Friday, Saturday and Sunday?  They would not get added to the weekend comps, seasonal comps or any other comps, but would garner points toward your belt(s).

Is that something that is doable?  It would appease everyone who catches these late changes, but wouldn't insight rage in the ones that don't (lol).  Just a thought.

@kalibo it would mess up the official fight database.  we have a really large audience of people that come to tapology only to use the fightcenter.  as a result we can't have multiple bellator 118 pages with duplicate fights or anything like that.

it's a good idea/suggestion, but probably not feasible to do.

Ah, so there would somehow have to be a way for these "Extra Events" and fights included in them to not remain in the data base as so you don't have dups.  I'm not sure how the data base filters the events, fights and what not, so I can't suggest how it would be feasible.

Sammy O was lucky he ate too many Twinkies to weigh in like a professional, Koreshkov was going to ****start his face with strikes.

Bellator fighters missing weight is becoming a habit

Predictions: 9 of 10 Winners, 3 Perfect, 565 Points   |   Tied for 107th

Bellator needs to start cutting these fighters that consistantly miss weight. Its very unprofessionl and unfair to their opponents. Seems like every week a few fighters miss weight in Bellator.

I wonder if Sammy O would be interested in the Rumbleweight division? He meets all the criteria.

Sammy O is not nearly athletic or explosive enough for Rumbleweight. There we go.
