Let's speculate. I think Cathal cruises in the MW bracket, his resume was already good enough that he should have been signed direct to the UFC anyway. I find him to be a bit boring, but he gets the job done. I think I'll be rooting for Van Buren to win the LHW bracket because he is from my state, used Travis Brown elbows to get the KO, and it would be satisfying for a "Bellator reject" to win the show. Who do you all favor?

The thing about Cathal Pendred is he's a former rugby player who never quite made it but trained a lot of players who are now in the Irish international squad. For that reason when he transitioned to MMA he swayed towards a more wrestling style. He pushes his opponent up against the cage, goes for takedowns and tries to ground and pound although his gnp isn't very strong. The reason I'm saying all this is because when he comes up against an average American wrestler he will falter. European fighters don't have to deal with college wrestlers. He won't be able to implement his game. I don't know how far he'll go in the show. He's still good, might be good enough to win TUF but I can't see him going far. Maybe if he gets more training in the US. He's no Conor McGregor
