This seems like a giant step down for Cerrone.

Not even a 'step' down. They just threw Cerrone down a flight of stairs.

Might not be as easy of a match up as you think. When was the last time Cerrone fought a big, physically strong fighter with a great top game trying to take him out of his element?

Cerrone looked great in his last fight, he should dominate here.

Is Martins actually 3 inches shorter than Cerrone? I thought Martins was a giant.

Cerrone is closer to 5'11 than 6'1, the UFC seriously cannot measure their fighters worth a ****.

Martins is on my radar to be a dark horse, but..

If the Cowboy that showed up against Dunham shows up, he beats most LW's out there.

Yeah to fight like he fought vs Dos Anjos then wreck Dunham,.makes no sense. Cerrone is the safe.pick but if you need to.plag catchup, Martins is the right.pick. my opinion.

Prediction: wrong Martins   wrong Submission   wrong Round 2

Just rewatched Martins/Elkins on FightPass.

Several things have me worried being a Cerrone fan:

1) Martins is a southpaw & we all remember what Pettis did & while Rogan was sucking on his own nutsack by saying "it's exactly as I said, the switch to southpaw opened up the ..." he was basically right although I don't think Martins is anywhere near Pettis as a striker.

2) My 1st thought was that as a BJJ black belt Martins would be looking for the td but he never went for a td vs. Elkins unless you count dumping him after he caught a kick. He knocked Cruickshank down and then jumped on top and had a very controlled, measured top game. Cowboy's good on the ground but I don't think he wants the fight to go there, he likes to kick & isn't known as the most strategic fighter, and if he does forgo kicks I don't think his boxing is good enough to keep Martins at bay and he's been fighting a long time so his chin could be catching up to him.

3) Consistency or the lack thereof has been the one consistent thing about Cowboy over the last year or so. Seemed to mentally check out of the Diaz fight even though he kicked Nate's legs out from under him. And the difference between the RDA & Dunham performances was Shogun or Rampage level inconsistent.

Don't know if I'm the only one who's superstitious about picking the fighters I'm a fan of but I'll be picking Martins in the hope that by sacrificing my correct pick the guy I want to win will. :)

Just made this decision and won't change the pick until after the weigh-ins so I know it doesn't match the post.

"Grammar. The difference between knowing your **** and knowing you're ****."
