I actually like this fight more than the Nog fight. I guess they are going to put Cormier vs Phil together now too?

Also liking this one more than Nog. Yes, Manuwa is untested, but he'll be 34 come fight time and is 14-0 against solid competition. No more hand-holding.

Poor Manuwa, he is gonna get embarrased so bad, and finished around the 3rd or 4th round? This is gonna be main event right?

Both Nog's best years are way, way behind them. It's a testament to their skill levels they can still hang around but this matchup is just way fresher, feels less like a sacrificial lamb and more like two contenders fighting for a shot. Word?

Don't know how to pick the fight. Gustafsson's obviously more proven. Arguably, neither of them has lost a striking match yet (the argument being Jon Jones vs Gustafsson). I think Gustafsson could outwrestle Manuwa, but don't think he'll choose to. Manuwa has a good reach himself IIRC. I think they both have good chins, but we don't really know enough about Manuwa. Could be an even fight. I'll probably take Gustafsson just because he's more proven.

Gustafson definitely has done more as a mixed martial artists, but seeing as how Manuwa is undefeated its impossible to say just how good he really is. I remember when Jon Jones was coming up people thought Vera and BAder would be tought matches for him and he walked through both those guys and then defeated an entire gauntlet of former champions.

If Manuwa wins against Gustafson i say make Jones vs Manuwa and see who puts a stop to whose streak.

Gustafsson's got too much sex appeal, Manuwa no can defend.

Oh ****! There goes our Jones/Gus rematch! Manuwa's opponents tend to injure **** when fighting him ...

But, seriously, Gus should take this pretty easy via wrestling like he did to Shogun ... if he stands with Jimi he can still win but he'll keep Jimi's chances for that one lights-out punch ... why risk another title shot when you're so much better than the other guy in the other aspects of the game.

Kingsbu exposed Manuwa's weaknesses, which happen to be things Gus is good at. Bad TDD (Gus has improved his wrestling tenfold, a-la Michael Bisping and turned it into a real weapon), questionable gas tank (Gus can go for days) and can't get up once put there (again, rolling with Mr. Wonderful will make Jimi's feeble attempts to get back up child's play).

Gus should take this easily if he doesn't underestimate Jimi's KO power and try to match him punch for punch (where I still think he'd win, but I don't think it's as clear cut).

Gus rolls his ankle in the second round, and Manuwa continues his streak of freakishly stupid wins.

Just kidding, Gus shouldn't have too much of a problem here, I think we'll see him exploit the hole in Manuwa's grappling game.

It was Manuwa who actually ripped Jones's toe off, not Sonnen.

Gus really proved himself vs jones. I hate picking this fight because manuwa is one of my fav prospects and someone I think is mentally prepared for the belt. But so is gus. This, in my mind, is gus's first title defense.

I think Jimi Manuwa has a significantly better shot than most people think, but only because people are overrating Gustafsson.

Don't get me wrong, Gus is a great style match up that causes problems for Jon Jones but this is still the same striker who had that lackluster performance against Shogun Gimpy.

Right, anik. I may be overrating gus at this point. But his boxing was so crisp in the jones fight I think he may be able to outpoint manauwa. Then again, manauwa may be able to get in and beat gus up-close with his boxing/clinch and/or beat him on the outside with powerful kicks and counter boxing, I don't know how this will go down. I think both can contend for the belt.

If it's a fight from the outside, there is absolutely no way that Manuwa wins. Gustafsson's boxing is more suitable for close-range fighting but his height, kicks and constant movement make it almost impossible for any fighter to beat him on the outside.

Manuwa's key to success is using his power to clip Gustafsson in the inside, preferably while Gustafsson throws some of those uppercuts to the body he seems to be obsessed with. Manuwa's sheer power can let him KO Gustafsson cleanly but it will be difficult because of Gus's constant movement and speed.

I mean, I still have Gustafsson winning because Manuwa is an aggressive fighter and Gustafsson is excellent when he's being pursued but Manuwa definitely has some windows to victory here.
