Gilbert Melendez.  I was really sorry for him that it took so damn long for him to make it to the UFC.  He had signed an extended contract with Strikeforce.  It looked like he was stuck indefinitely.

Well, he finally made it here and Benson Henderson graciously extended the Red Carpet with a title shot debut.  Gilbert lost.  Dropping a razor-sharp decision to Henderson is far from a disgrace.

This fight with Sanchez was just the thing to mark him as an exciting as well as great fighter.  I'm hoping they give Gilbert a title shot as his next fight.

And can anyone now not salivate at the prospects of Diego moving to WW to fight Nick Diaz???
What an epic show that would be.  That would be 15 minutes of MAYHEM!  Or better yet, make it the head-liner and go 25 minutes of CHAOS and MAYHEM.

I don´t think Nick Diaz would take a fight with Diego Sanchez right now.

While you are right of course, ben, it would be epic.  Nick would have nothing to gain.  But doesn't that prove that Diego has more the right attitude and more the right Warrior Spirit?

As much as I love Diego, I don't over-rate him.  I just dream of the best possible fights in a perfect world.

If Diego started a trash-talk campaign to bait Nick out of 'retirement', maybe Nick could be courted to fight to save face.

Yes he does Bill, and that´s why Diego has been number 3 on my list of favorite fighters for a very long time.

2. GSP
3. Diego Sanchez
4. Nick Diaz

I was thinking about this last night after Waldburger got put out, I have noticed it's different depending on the fighters but some will stop after the opponent is knocked out and some will continue to hit their unconscious foe.

One of the fighter's with the most experience in MMA, Wanderlei Silva is a prime example of a fighter who is of high intensity, but from what I have seen in Wanderlei's career for the most part,  he'll stop when a fighter is knocked completely out. I've seen him do this with Stann, Minowa, 3rd Sakuraba fight, a few others.

I have seen a few fighters do this, but they might be doing it for the walk away factor. I know that they are told to go until the ref stops them, but do you really need to land 2-3 extra punches? Martial Arts teaches control, so I would image that after you've knocked a person out 1-2 times in the past, you would have that experience and know a future opponent is out cold.

This is in no way an attack on Amagov, I think it's just becoming all too normal to smash your opponents head in 2-3 times after they are knocked out.

In round 4 I think, Cain came in low and JDS tagged him twice, I can't remember if it was on the jaw, but those two shots were the best ones I saw him land.
