Tapology member Halny has started to send us a lot of updates about happenings in Polish MMA.  He's never posted in the forums, but I'm encouraging him to come here and start providing updates on cards and fighters in Poland.  There's a lot going on in that country!

The last two weekends were busy for Polish fighters.

First, during the first weekend of October (3rd-5th), a number of Polish fighters competed in different countries against different foreign opponents.

First on the 3rd, at FFC 14 in Lubljana, Marcin Prachnio demolished the Croatian Stjepan Bekavac with knees in 35 seconds.

Then on 4th, Jacek Czajczyński and Piotr Wołowik travelled to Grozny to face the local favourites at Absolute Championship Berkut 10. They lost decisions to the ABC HW GP winner Zelimkhan Umiev and the WW rising star Abubakar Vagaev respectively.

Just a couple of hours later 3 other Polish fighters stepped into the Octagon in Stockholm at UFC FN 53.

First, Marcin Bandel failed in his UFC debut by getting TKO'd by a Chechen striker Mairbek Taisumov. Even though he disputed the stoppage, since he was going for a takedown when the referee stepped in, the result stands.

Then, in the following fight, Krzysztof Jotko gave absolutely no chance to the Swedish physicist/mixed martial artist Tor Troéng. Despite breaking his hand early, he hit Tor over 130 times while stuffing all of the Swede's 19 takedowns on the way to an easy UD win.

Then on the main card debuting Jan Błachowicz made short work of the inexplicably favoured Ilir Latifi by utilizing his Muay Thai and whooping him with his well known kicks on the way to a quick TKO.

At the same time the capital of Polish MMA hosted the latest edition of KSW, aptly named "The Fighters' Den". The main card featured the total of 6 fights pitting Polish fighters against the foreigners.

First, the Angolan Bad Boy Helson Henriques fought a valiant fight against the Polish Lightweight Anzor Azhiev, but ultimately lost the decision. Azhiev fought somewhat cautiously, keeping in mind that his last two fights ended in a NC and DQ respectively, both because of his, so to say, enthusiasm.

Then the Szczecin Berserker Rafał Moks announced that he's going to submit the Brazilian
Daniel Acácio in the first round. He did just that, torturing the visiting fighter with leg kicks until he jumped for a desperate takedown and straight into a guillotine choke.

Another Berserker, Maciej Jewtuszko, came into the fight against the crazy Montenegro striker Vaso Bakocevic  with a broken hand, which he only disclosed after the event. As a result both his striking defense and his well known grappling suffered - he was knocked down very early in the fight and he missed several easy choke opportunities in the later rounds. He still weathered the storm and ultimately finished his opponent with a combination of body kicks followed by knees to the ribs in the third round.

The Barbarian from Płock, Marcin Różalski didn't fare as well in his fight against the Australian K-1 legend Peter Graham. He was doing very well originally scoring with hard strikes, until he dislocated a knee while throwing a kick late in the 1st round. He tried to take the fight down, but it gave up on him mid-throw and he ended up mounted. Still he survived the round and limped out for the 2nd. Here unfortunately the story repeated itself, except this time when they went to the ground, all of Graham's 110+ kg of weight came down on Różal's knee and he tapped out screaming in pain.

In the next Poland-Brazil fight, another Berserker, the KSW MW Champion Michał Materla, made easy work - as expected - of Jorge Bezerra. He didn't miss any opportunity to land a punch and while he worked at a rather slow and methodical pace, it was enough to finish the beaten and tired Brazilian early in the 2nd round.

In the main event the KSW HW Champion of the Berserker Team, Karol Bedorf, upped the Szczecin-Brazil record to 3-0 by putting a beating on Rolles Gracie, the son of legendary Rolls. His heavy kicks took their toll and when taken to the ground after overshooting one of them, as expected, he had no problems with first tying Rolles up from the bottom and then reversing the position. Finally one of the kicks was enough for Rolles who broke in half and turtled. As he later explained his ribs that appeared to be broken (he couldn't get up for a couple of minutes and then had to be helped out of the cage while he kept holding his side) were actually fine, he was just in too much pain from the kick to the liver.

The weekend total:

Poland vs. Foreigners 8-4

including:

Poland vs. Brazil 3-0
Poland vs. Sweden 2-0
Poland vs. Slovakia 1-0
Poland vs. Montenegro 1-0
Poland vs. Angola 1-0
Poland vs. Russia (Chechnya actually) 0-3
Poland vs. Australia 0-1

The following weekend Polish fighters dominated the European ADCC European 2014 Trials in Sofia, Bulgaria by scoring the total of 9 Gold (originally reported at 6 or 8, but I counted 9 across all the categories including 3/5 Pro, unless some of the results are incorrect), 6 Silver (again originally reported at 4) and 1 Bronze medals.

Among the medallists were Mateusz Gamrot (Gold at 76.9 kg, Pro), Tomasz Narkun (Gold at 98.9 kg, Pro), Kornel Zapadka (+87.9 kg, Masters 2) and Oskar Piechota (Silver at 87.9 kg, Pro).

It's too bad Khalidov is probably going to keep beating up whatever random named middleweights are unsigned at the time. Would like to see him in UFC or at least Bellator.

The long awaited fight for the Women BW Championship at Cage Warriors will have to wait. Agnieszka Niedźwiedź has damaged her intercostal cartilage in training and needs time off. Cage Warriors is going to announce the replacement to face Pannie Kianzad.

So Pannie will fight a replacement in a non title bout?

No, it's still a title fight, just against a different, yet to be announced opponent.

That sucks unless is a good replacement. However, I would have preferred the original matchup for the title

Pawel Kielek (5-0) is fighting on November 22nd. All six of his fights (pro and am) have been finished via strikes. This kid is only 18 years old too. He has pretty dynamic striking for being so young.

Eeva is a good replacement and a solid fighter, but she already lost (and pretty quick) to the girl Agnieszka beat this year.

Godzilla goes to Tokyo!

Not really much of a news item, just thought it sounded funny. One of the tough guys with a deceptive record, Jacek "Godzilla" Czajczyński has apparently been contracted to fight at Real 1 against as of yet unannounced opponent. Time will show whether it actually happens.
