last night we were thinking maybe russow, kongo or herman. i think the fight with herman would be really entertaining. i do think mitrione would beat all these fighters so lets match him up with frank mir. mir would want to take this to the ground and try to submit mitrione. mir is top 5 thru  8 in most  heavyweight rankings. i think mitrione has proven he can knockout the strikers but can he beat a fighter who is more well rounded. anybody agree?

I don't. Matt would likely get his **** kicked in. It to big of a jump to fast. Mir chin aint the best so Matt has a puncher chance, but other then that he getting worked. I think you all are forgetting how good mir is standing. Matt be fighting people far lower on the food chain, then people Mir typically fights.

it was just a question. i agree, mir would beat mitrione. i like mitrione and his "i piss excellence" is kinda funny but maybe he is getting a little ****y. you think he would tell mir he would "**** him up" like he told morecraft during the weigh ins?

What about Mir v Kongo II, in their first fight Mir dropped him like Barry did but then sunk in a choke and put him to sleep ... Maybe cupCheick should have a chance to get the loss back.

I think Mitrione would have some problems with Mir. He hasn't fought anyone with the experience of Mir, and definitely no one with the jiu-jitsu skills of Mir.

I think Mir's arsenal is just too diverse for Mitrione at this point in time. Matt throws alot of straight punches, despite finishing the fight with 3/2/3 combo.... He doesn't throw knee's and we haven't really seen his clinch game alot. I'm pretty sure he asked for Kongo at one point in time, and the common thought was Barry/Mitrione would happen if they both won, so why not Kongo/Mitrione to see who takes a step up in competition again!

Not to mention Mir would probably never take this fight, it does nothing for his career or his aspirations to fight for the title again.

Joe daddy definately fought his last fight in the UFC last night. If he were a bit more entertaining it'd be on thing, but the guy hasn't seemed to evolve since he won the ultimate fighter. His stand up looks almost identical to what it used to be. Same stance, combos, and limited head movement - and what used to be his strong suit of grappling just isn't cutting it anymore.

@bklettke, I think Kongo vs Mitrione is a great idea. I was hoping for Mitrione vs Barry but that probably won't happen now. Kongo vs Mitrione would be a good fight to see if Mitrione really is ready for a step up in competition.

I like the idea of Nelson/Mitrione or Herman/Mitrione

I think the Schaub/Nogueira winner should fight Mir.

I like Mir fighting the winner of Schaub/Nogueira since Mir was scheduled to fight both at some point in the last year or so

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I liked the Schuab/Mir fight, and if Nogueira is healthy he will beat Schuab, then avenge his embarrassing loss to Mir.

@ mino. i agree with you that schaub is over-rated and a little arrogant. so mitrione and schaub (both being kinda arrogant) could be a good staredown. i think mitrione knocks out schaub like nelson did in TUF finale. mitrione is like cerrone in that aspect. there are alot of fighters i want to see fight those two guys.

I think a prime NOG beats nearly anyone, but he's not in his prime anymore. I think Schaub is going to be Mintauro's last win the UFC and only because he's fighting in Brazil. He's been in too many wars to hang with upper echelon fighters. I think Mir TKO's both Schaub and big nog.
