Davis winning last night means Jones can pretty much fight whoever he wants . Perfect time for a Super fight , thanks Andy!

Well at the post fight press conference the UFC said if Glover win in impressive fashion he will get the next shot at the belt.

I can dig that . My Choices would be

Cormier
Glover
Mousasi

in that order

Here's how I rank it now.

Davis and Gustafsson have both beaten top 5 guys, but Davis has a win over Gustafsson so he gets bumped up.  Davis has also beaten Nogueira so he's above him.  Lyoto got bumped below Lil Nog for no particular reason, since they haven't fought each other it's a judgment call.  Lyoto stays ahead of Rashad based on their fight.

Evans over Hendo is easy, Hendo over Rua is easy, Bader and Teixeira are interchangeable, both having cracked the top 10 by beating Rampage.  That will get sorted out next month.

Rua gains no ranking if he beats Sonnen, just momentum

Gegard is going back to 185 I think and I agree with Dana that Glover should get a shot if he wins another one in exciting fashion. Since Jones vs Glover is the fight I want to see the most, DC or maybe Davis aren't that intriguing imo...

@Dakej good effort but Evans (your Nr.6) beat Davis (your Nr.2) clearly across-the-board.

Gus (your Nr.3) just beat Shogun in your top 10 while Machida (your Nr.5) has wins over Evans, Hendo, Bader and so on.

I guess what I'm saying is to rank those guys you truly have to be a wizard...

You're right, let me try again.

The hardest thing to get past is the Davis > Nog > Evans > Davis problem.  So, since of those fights Nog vs Evans was most recent, I gave it precedence.  This has the somewhat strange side-effect of ranking Lil Nog 2nd, but I THINK it works everything else out.

Lil Nog being the number two light heavyweight just doesn't seem right...AT ALL.

I think it'd just be easier if people ranked it based off of the actual fight instead of the win/loss record.

Ok Jones is #1. That's the only clear thing.

Phil Davis is 3-1 vs. other top 10(ish) fighters.
Gustafsson  1-1
Shogun 2-4
Hendo 1-3
Rashad 3-2
Machida 4-3
Nog  2-3
and Bader & Glover's best win is Rampage.

If you give each fighter 2 pts for a clear win and 1 for a close or controversial win and the same for losses their scores are:

Jones    7
Gustafsson  -1
Machida    1
Nog    0
Rashad   -1  I gave him 2 pts for his dec. over Davis
Hendo   -3
Shogun   -1
Davis   2

so even giving Rashad +2 and Davis -2 for their dec. still gives Phil Davis the best score. And he appears to be improving more than the other top contenders even Glover. I think if Glover convincingly beats Bader he should get the next shot but Phil should be on deck.

I haven't updated mine since last night, but I'm torn on this.  That was a very close fight and you know me, I can't stand the fact that a take down with 30 seconds left gives you the round... what about the other 4:30?

However, Phil did officially win, so how should I show my rankings?  I'm torn.

I understand a takedown winning you a round in a close fight , but not when Machida shrugged off a **** load of TDs like it was nothing . Davis is one of the best wrestlers in the UFC and Machida threw him off with ease all but two times. And those two times was because he was against the cage .

During Bellator they said Sub Defense doesnt score under the unified rules . Does the same apply to TDD ? If so that needs to change.

@curt.. agreed 100 percent!  That's what I meant by "the other 4:30". He stuffed a ton of Davis TD's and got zero credit for it... all the judges saw was the end of the round TD. Ugh.
