The picks for this fight would be a lot closer if people remembered who Howard is.

What has that got to do with anything especially picking Uriah Hall? What a diabolically idiotic statement. I applaud you, sir..

I think I'm gonna take Howard in this one. I'm surprised that everyone is picking Hall. This should be a pick em fight.

Looks like I have touched a nerve with Tapology's resident Forrest Gump...

Did someone hide your chocolates, brah? Or in this case I would assume it would be tacos, correct? Honestly I should humbly apologize for engaging that fumigated spiders nest that you call a consciousness..

Was I supposed respond to your overly aggressive dumb dumb questions actually? I'll be more than happy to do so if you can keep up without hurting yourself...

Prediction: correct Howard   wrong KO/TKO   wrong Round 1

Here's my brief breakdown:

Striking is a toss up, both are well versed and both have devastating power. Howard was really sloppy during his first UFC run but he's since had a dramatic improvement. Hall is flashier while Howard is more straighforward. I would give a VERY slight edge to Hall just because he's never had technique issues and he's done well against dangerous strikers (like battling Costa Philippou to a close decision), but I believe Doomsday has a LOT more power. If it stays standing this fight will be intriguing and very competitive.

Wrestling/Grappling definitely goes to Howard. Howard trains with top notch wrestlers on a daily basis plus he's a purple belt in BJJ. Hall looked terrible against Kelvin Gastelum, who was also really small for the weight class and had excellent grappling. If Howard wants to take Hall down he shouldn't have too much trouble.

Chin/Durability goes to Howard. He has one TKO loss early on in his career, but he went the distance with Thiago Alves and kept going with Jake Ellenberger until a doctor stepped in. Hall got KO'd by Weidman back when Weidman's striking wasn't very great, but to be fair it looked like Hall just got clipped with a lucky punch that landed in just the right spot. Combined with the fact that Howard most likely has a lot more power, I see the chance on Hall going night night much more likely than Howard doing so.

Mental Toughness goes to Howard, no doubt. Hall proved that to be his weakness during TUF and definitely in his finale fight. Howard has stood there and kept fighting with Alves and Ellenberger, as I mentioned before, not to mentioned the comeback against Dennis Hallman.

Overall, this is a very interested fight. I know that the two of them are going to stand and bang, at least at first. If Hall's reach and (possible) technique superiority turn the fight in his favor, Howard may go into wrestling mode, where I think he will most likely dominate. Or Howard will continue trying to stand with him (see the Alves fight), where he'll either land a knockout punch or get outclassed to a decision. If Howard ends up outstriking Hall, he can definitely get the knockout or at least the decision. I honestly feel like either way Hall is going to mentally break once some solid punches are landed on him. It seems to me like he's going to be Philippe Nover all over again.

Hall has way more diverse striking. How many spinning back kicks to the dome has Howard connected with? How many has he thrown for that matter?

I said flashy vs straightforward if you read it again. Just because you can throw fancy spinning kicks doesn't necessarily mean you're a better striker. The basics are what kill.

No one's arguing about whether or not it works, point is just because you know how to throw those doesn't always mean your striking is better.

Howards more technical on the feet , and has so much experience fighting in general, this is probably gonna be another case of "too much, too soon" for Uriah Hall. Dislike if you want, but IMO hes a better fighter, right now anyway.

Urijah wins this fight, training with Weidman and memory of his fight with Kelvin will push him in training. There's a reason Howard was cut. He's a good fighter but not UFC elite.

@CthulhuJones

Flashy kicks do work. Especially against a 4-0 fighter like Adam Cella. A fighter, who before going TUF, showed how impressive he was against opponents who are now 0-2, 0-2, 0-2, and 16-22.

I'll concede that Howard has more power in his hands, but Hall has got dem kicks. I realize Adam Cella isn't the best fighter in the world but it's been proven by other fighters recently in the UFC that if you drop your hands to block an expected spinning body kick when it's a spinning head kick, you might be going night night for a second. I'm excited for this fight, but I personally think Nick Ring and his wrestling would have been the toughest opponent of the three Hall's been scheduled to fight on this card. Glad Howard is back regardless.

Nick Ring would have been a different fight though, and John Howard is more than capable of standing and trading with Hall. I f Doomsday comes in 100% and gets off on Hall early, I think he can finish him. Not saying Hall wouldn't beat him, just saying that Howard is the more  put-together fighter and he's gonna set the pace. "too much, too soon". Potential is like garden, it takes time to grow. haha
