After seeing the #1 pound-for-pound fighter go down last weekend in an upset, is it possible for the #4 ranked Jose Aldo to lose his championship at the hands of the Korean Zombie on August 3rd at UFC 163?

I don't see it... Aldo is in his physical prime.  He will have an advantage in virtually every aspect of the fight.  Size, striking, takedown defense, grappling.

The only concern, as always, is his cardio.

I honestly feel like Zombie is just crazy enough to pull it off I think his skillset of the mat make him more dangerous than Pettis or Frankie but Aldo is a freaking killer, you can't question his dominance in his division since taking out Torres. This has fight of the year written all over it

I agree, and Aldo's cardio has always been a question. If Aldo can't finish him in the first round or two, I think Zombie has a good chance if he can fatigue him and catch him sleeping http://www.tapology.com/ue/386312.png

Aldo is too technical for KZ. It's gonna be a good fight. Good chance even this goes to decision, but I see Aldo coming out on top.

Hominick gave him hell in spurts when they fought. if KZ brings his best, he could prove to be one of aldos toughest opponents, minus Frankie Edgar. this fight is much more interesting then if Lamas got the shot. no offense to lamas, but this fight is gonna be ******* awesome. thank you dana

I was gonna say Aldo's cardio problem leads me to believe KZ has about a 15% chance. Then I remembered KZ hasn't fought in well over a year, which made me think KZ's chances dropped to 10%. Then I remembered this event is in Brazil and Brazilians do particularly well in Brazil events. Aldo had his only finish when he fought in Brazil and he looked like he was in better shape than he had been for his other fights when he was fighting in Brazil. All of that makes me think KZ has less than a 5% chance of getting the win in this fight. Aldo's unbelievably good (many disagree, but I have him as tops in my P4P ranking) and I don't think he loses at 145 for any reason other than late cardio problems, which is why I think after this fight he'll announce he's relinquishing the belt and wants Benson Henderson at 155 (at least, that's what I'm hoping happens).

I agree with @Greg though I really don't think Aldo has the grappling advantage outside of TDD. Zombie has excellent grappling and Aldo has never really showed anything.

Still he'll have to survive early and put the pressure on late to win. I think he'd need a late sub cause I can't see him getting a KO or taking enough rounds to win a decision.

@Delrose Jose "Decision King" Aldo? Really? I hope you're trolling. 13 KOs, 2 Submissions, 7 decisions amongst his 22 career wins. That's a finish rate over 68%.

@Danno I'm not sure for a fact who has the better ground game, but Aldo received his black belt from Andre Pderneiras (same instructor as BJ Penn), so I wouldn't put it past Aldo to have a great ground game that he chooses not to use for the most part due to his ridiculous advantage in the stand up department.

If you pay attention you will see that nothing DelRose says is ever worth taking seriously. Would love to see the Zombie pull it off but seems like a long shot here.... But if we use Hominick as a measuring stick...

Zombie is gonna get put to sleep in the first round. If he can get caught by George Roop imagine what Aldo can do to him. The speed difference and technique is a huge advantage here for Aldo. Not to mention they are going to be in Brazil... Zombie pickers are off their rockers...

Aldo will win either by KO or dominant decision. I don't think Zombie has much of a chance at all. I would have rather seen Lamas get the shot mainly because he's been destroying guys and he's not coming off an injury like Zombie.

2 of my favorite fighters of all time, Aldo will either KO KZ in round 2 or round 4 or will win by a decisive decision.

Aldo's the best featherweight in MMA by a large margin with Edgar and Mendes being a step behind him, yet still being above everyone else by a big margin.

The obvious reason i pick KZ is because i love how the guy fights he leaves it all out in the cage but in a much more technical way then he used to and he's pulled upsets before.  Yes, i know Aldo will probably knock him out or decision him but hell MMA logic depresses me so i got Jung by 5th round sub.

I think this is Aldo's less threatening fight so far in the UFC. As much as I like KZ he takes way too many risks, which is poison against Aldo, and is coming back from a lengthy lay-off.

Sorry KZ, maybe on another occasion.
