So how good is this Doo Ho Choi?  Does he have a chance to be competitive in the UFC?

Doo Ho Choi is probably the best prospect in Asia, only other guy I would possibly put over him is Horiguchi. He is a large FW (actually cuts), has crazy power, and has greatly improved his wrestling. Beating the likes of Shoji, Obiya, and Ishida in his early 20's is crazy, also it's how he beats these guys that is impressive. Give him a few years and he will be a FW contender in the UFC

Cool.

At this point I'm just skeptical by default of any talent coming out of Japan and South Korea. Obviously guys like Okami and Stun Gun show that they're perfectly capable. But then so many other fighters come over and are undersized and under-prepared and get smashed.

Choi cuts to 145 from about 180-185 so he will not be undersized what so ever. His only problem early on was his TDD, which he shelled up by the time he fight Ishida, who he literally destroyed shucking off all the takedowns. Ishida is a better wrestlers than most wrestlers in the FW division to be honest if you take a look at Ishida's first fight with Melendez which happened at 155 (Ishida is tiny even at 145) you will see what I mean.

@Legz, that's about the only fight in Asia left that makes sense for him. A win over Yokota should be enough for a UFC bid

There's Jiri or Aoki but I don't wanna see that. UFC is the best choice.

Yeah but if Choi gets derailed now that could set him far back, I would like for him to continue to get experience and solid wins before taking on anyone of that caliber. I  think he could possibly take Aoki but Kawajiri would wrestle **** him at this point

Thanks for posting the fight @Wish. Choi gets clipped a lot if he wants to fight in the UFC he should work on his striking defense but another great war from this guy.

Nine straight finishes on the main card, when can we get a stream from these guys?

@Gregory  The UFC is skeptical too, or guys like Kobayashi, Horiguchi and Choi would already be signed. It would be cool to see WSOF bring in some Asian talent.

The biggest holes in Choi's games were his wrestling and striking defense. He's improved a ton in his wrestling, now he needs to really work on his striking defense, because if he got signed by the UFC he would get KO'd if got caught. He does have a solid chin, as he get rocked frequently, but he recovers and fights back and wins.

Aside from the obvious 2 of Kawajiri and Aoki, I would also like to see Choi and Kyoji in the UFC. I'm not too high on ISAO as most people seem to be. He barely got a draw in his last fight against Macaco Patino and one could argue Macaco Patino was robbed of that fight. Had it happened elsewhere outside of Pancrase and Japan, Macaco Patino would have won a unanimous decision.

Before watching the Choi vs. Shoji fight, I would've said Choi would be a much better fit for the UFC, but after watching it, I would say Kyoji is the better fit for the UFC. Choi's striking defense is too much of a problem for him and Kyoji only seemed to have a bit of a hole in his ground game, but he seemed to improve in that area of his game as he subbed in his last fight to win the Shooto featherweight title.

If Kyoji can beat Ishiwatari dominantly at VTJ 2nd, I don't see how the UFC doesn't pick him up eventually this year.

Either way, Choi vs. Shoji is an awesome fight.

I would love to see Kikuno in Bellator. He's far from a great fighter, but he definitely deserves to fight on a bigger platform and outside of Japan and I don't think he's a UFC level lightweight, but he's a solid fighter and I could see him doing pretty well outside of Japan.

I think WSOF would be pretty good for him too. They're not a huge organization, but they're a lot bigger than DEEP and could help him a lot by getting a fight and a win in WSOF.

Sorry you are wrong

I wont even talk about Japanese fighters in the UFC because thats a whole different matter.

But let me talk about your other stupid comment. When has a South Korean fighter ever been "crushed" or "undersized" in the division.

The answer is never.

DHK is basically a top ten fighter and is the opposite of "undersized".
Korean Zombie is going to fight Jose Aldo.
Dongi Yang while got cut from the UFC was never "undersize" never even closed to "crushed". You can easily argue he beat Brad Tavares and Court Mcgee.
Hyun Gyu Lim just won his fight fight by KO and is the opposite of "undersized."
Kang Kyung Ho got robbed against Bruce Leroy and is also the opposite of "undersized".

So basically please stop talking out of your ass, and I'm shocked so many people gave your stupid commet thumbs up.
