Can someone please tell me what I'm missing here? Has Mitchell's awkward win vs. Thoresen propelled him up the ranks to high he gets a top 15 guy?

What does this fight give Mike Pierce except the chance to lose to a nobody and/or some easy money in his pocket?

I don't get it ...

I feel bad for Mike Pierce. Just who in the UFC did he piss off? This fight gives him nothing to win, no bounce and everything to lose. This is the kind of fight you give someone when you hate them and are determined to drop their ranking as far as possible.

Did Mike **** Joe Silva's daughter and then say what a lousy **** she was? He must have.

The UFC hates boring wrestlers like Pierce and will do anything they can to keep them on the prelims. I personally think Pierce has earned at least a top 15 guy but I'm not surprised he got matched up with this guy.

The only thing Pierce can do is win. If he wants bigger fights, just keep winning. I like watching Pierce fight as well. He is just a bull and his game is coming along. Wish they would have put him versus Dong Hyun KIm.

Yeah it's pretty clear who will win this but that said I don't think Pierce will destroy him...it's probably gonna be another boring decision win on his record.

I have Pierce in my Top 15 and there is just no justification for this low grade of UFC ********.

It pads Mike's record unfairly and puts a L in DAVID' record, without cause. And IT ROBS US OF A COMPETITIVE EVENT.

Holy ****...Mitchell is going to get dismantled. Pierce is amazingly underrated, and it's just a matter of when he will break through to be a top guy.

This will probably be on the FB prelims on top of that. I admire Pierce's motivation...

Mike Pierce (16-5 MMA, 9-3 WEC/UFC) vs. David "Daudi" Mitchell (12-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC)

Mitchell is 4" inches taller, and has a 4.5" inch reach advantage.

Mitchell has been a bit of a disappointment in The UFC up to this point. He lost UD's to Waldburger and Paulo Thiago, before taking a UD win over Dr. Thoresen this January in Chicago.

Pierce on the other hand has demonstrated that he only looses to the top tier wresters. In his last 15 fights he has only lost to Fitch, Hendricks, and Kos. In that time he has notable wins over Eduardo Rocha, Aaron Simpson, and Seth Baczynski.
Pierce is a former DI wrestler, he has won seven of his last nine fights, and is on a three fight win streak. He has seven wins by TKO (including a rare 3rd round knockout) and one by submission.

Pierce has a slight edge as the better statistical striker landing more strikes per minute (2.62 >>> 2.13), more accurate (44% >>> 33%), and better standing defense (62% >>> 57%).Pierce is a much better wrestler, he averages over one successful take down per round (3.44 p/ 15 minutes), additionally he defends 69% of all takedown attempts, that is a sharp contrast to Mitchell's abysmal 7% takedown defense.

Mike Pierce and Matt Brown should be fighting each other to get a top contender.

Weird matchup, but people are only crying because it's in the UFC. If it was in WSOF or Bellator people wouldn't mind it.

Regardless, Pierce will dominate Mitchell wherever the fight goes.
