I don't really listen to mainstream rap anymore, hardly listen to new underground **** now, so this thread is for the good old school **** (it's weird to call this **** old school but I heard my friends son call a Lil Flip song old schcool so what the ****). I hope you younger guys who are into hip hop can appreciate this too and maybe hear some good **** you never heard before.

I've seen alot of the old school acts live and I really wish I had the chance to see Gangstarr in action.

I have had the chance to see some early hip hop artists live.  I saw public enemy in the early 90's.  Probably not the smartest thing I ever did.  I was one of 5 young white guys at the show at the Richmond coliseum and it nearly turned out bad for me.  I got punched, kicked and knocked down.  Security had to rescue me from an angry mob that was going to beat my ass.  The Run DMC show was much easier going.  The Beastie Boys tore the house down.  I saw House of Pain in a small club in Richmond (awesome).  I saw Onyx and Das Effects at a club (Great). I also saw 3rd bass, Digital underground, EPMD and Whodini.  I used to go to every show I could, it didn't matter if it was rap, metal or otherwise, I love live shows.  From 1986 to 2009, I saw everything that came within 100 miles of Richmond.  I have had several injuries since then which makes it hard to go to the live shows since I like to get down on the floor and mix-it-up.  I still go to see my favs which are mostly metal bands.

Dude, getting to see PE in the early 90s was probably worth the beating. Lol. I haven't been to a rap show since Andre Nickatina in 2008. Every rap group that comes through the Bay Area just sucks ass. Except Wu-Tang, but I had to pick between them and Gojira, and Gojira hasn't been to the states in ages.

I got to see some of the old school acts in the last few years at pretty small venues. I saw Slick Rick, Rakim (twice), Nice & Smooth, EPMD (twice), Edo G, and KRS-One who was the most amazing to see live. KRS just had a smile the whole time he was performing, got him to sign a dollar bill for me too and got it hanging on my wall. I also went to rock the bells back in 07 and saw Public Enemy, Mos Def, Roots, Talib Kweli, Wu Tang, Cypress Hill, Immortal Technique with Rahzel and Supernatural hosting. Might have been a few more there but it's late and I'm pretty stoned lol.

I'm getting tickets to a sick old school show at Foxwoods in June. Check out this lineup....EPMD, Rakim, Slick Rick, Special Ed, Naughty by Nature, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie and DMX. Not sure how DMX really fits into old school but I like some of his stuff so it should be a badass show.

@amp  I saw Wu-Tang when they opened for Rage against the machine.  They sucked.  ODB was a no show along with half of the rest of the group.

Wu-tang isn't what they used to be, but Enter the 36 Chambers has always been in my top 5 rap albums of all time, so it's more the action of getting to see them live. Even if they suck, the awe of seeing them live is more than enough.

I just saw The Who a few months ago. That sucked. They should not be touring. Daltry put on a good show, but Pete Townshend looked like he was just phoning it in. I still enjoyed the awe of seeing them live, but I've been to much better shows.

You sound like an old man. AGEISM MOTHA****A!

See how I dropped the "er" and added the "a"? There's your first lesson in "thug". Now don't go using this information to infiltrate the black community and take them down from the inside, you neo-nazi ****!

Indeed Indeed my friend.  Had some hard luck, but all is well and life is slowly but surely coming back to normal.  Hope all is well.
