Kim qualifies for ADCC
UFC fighter Dong Hyun Kim (31, Busan Team Mad) will be competing in the world’s most prestigious grappling tournament Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) in Bejing,China.
Dong Hyun Kim, who won ADCC Korea was originally going to compete in ADCC Asia for a chance to qualify for ADCC 2013, but ADCC organizers gave Dong Hyun Kim a guaranteed spot at ADCC 2012. It seems Dong Hyun Kim’s reputation as one of the best grapplers in the UFC influenced this decision.
“I am really happy about this opportunity, but I am also a bit disappointed in a way. It wasn’t going to be easy, but I was confident that I would be able to win at ADCC Asia. I really wanted to show my skills to everyone in Japan,” said Dong Hyun Kim.
Kim will be competing in the -88kg class with ADCC 2011 winner Andre Galvao, Rousimar Palhares, Braulio Estima, and Pablo Popovitch.
“It is not my fighting weight and I know some of the best grapplers are in that weight class. I still believe if my condition is 100%, I can compete with anyone. Another reason that will help me is that I will not have jetlag because ADCC 2012 will take place in China. I am confident that I can beat anyone,” explained the always confident Kim.”Right now, ADCC is even more important than the UFC for me.”
“Ultimately, my goal is to place at ADCC 2013. I do not think the UFC will be able to deny me a rematch against Demian Maia if I prove my grappling abilities at the biggest grappling competition in the world.”

Their fight from Shooto 1st Round 2013 from January was really good as it was mostly just them grappling with each other, so this should be equally as good or even better.
