Tapology Talks: Basketball

I've seen a Tapology Talks for everything else so wth.

 

With the playoffs approaching lets talk some basketball.

Some news from recently:

- Heat get 18th win straight over Indiana.

- Lakers beat Chicago to take 8th seed in the West.

- Durants 23 pts and 10 rebs get the Thunder their 5th win in a row against the Cetics.

- Raptors beat Cavs, Kyrie Irving injures shoulder.

- Magic gave the 76ers their 5th straight loss.

- Suns beat Rockets even though Harden gets 38 pts.

Muggsy Bogues is G.O.A.T

Darryl Dawkins, one of the best dunkers ever, passed away today. Was 58 years old. RIP, Chocolate Thunder!! 

Feel like alot of early 90's and 80's players are forgotten about when dunking is brought up. Personally I think it because ESPN is extremely misleading in the way they talk about the current generation by implying they jump highers ect (which is utter ******** by the way). When in fact they are able to run 3 to 4 feet with out dribbling, can palm the ball and have open lane to the hoop rules that makes it seem like they can jump higher, since they are, but it directly because of rule changes (like handchecking, open lane to the hoop, 5 second rule) and rules that are just straight up ignored in today's game like Traveling/palming the ball.  All of which lead to better/ higher dunks. Does not mean they can actually jump higher or dunk better, but rather the league current rules allow them to do so, which ESPN  conveniently leaves out when they talk about the current generations leaping ability compared to past generations.

@Franklin880088 I always thought guys from the 80's like Jordan, Kemp, Malone, Dawkins, and Wilkins were superior dunkers than the players of today like Griffin, LeBron, Howard, etc. for the mere fact that Jordan and company actually faced defensive pressure when they drive to the lane.  The NBA has found a way to remove defense from basketball and it makes the game unwatchable in my opinion.

Another Sixers legend passes away. This time it's Moses Malone at 60 years old.

Oklahoma and Orlando had an amazing game. Double OT. Game got crazy towards the end of regulation.
