Wouldn't that apply to Barnett as well, he's up there in age, and just won against cans in the last few years, well and against Kharitonov a match up that was tailor made for him.

The real question is who would win in a fight between Mir and Barnett ? And I think Mir would have good chances here.

@Yoss   I guess it didn't come out right in my post.  I like Mir.  I like watching him break bones and choking people out.  He has just been taking too many shot lately.  If Big Nog had been patient, he could have knocked Mir out (I picked Mir in that fight).  Carwin blasted him (I thought that one might have been stopped a little late).  JDS pounded him.  I just think DC will be too quick for him and probably get the finish in the 2nd.

Mir looks like he's improved a lot since moving to Jackson's but I just can't pick him over a guy like Cormier. I'll be rooting for him to get a sub though.

I just don't see how Mir wins this fight. Cormier's wrestling is fantastic, his TDD is great, and he can rock your socks off (and all of Mir's losses have been by KO). Cormier is a small Heavyweight, but his talent will carry the day here.

The only way Mir will win is if Cormier isn't 100% on his A+ game.

Hmm....

To be honest I thinK Cormier could go in there 50% and still beat Mir.

I think people are underestimating Mir here...I think he'll do better than what people are expecting. I don't think he has bad striking, he just doesn't have the best chin in the world. He definitely has a shot if this fight hits the mat. However, I still have DC winning this one late.

For the record I think Mir is a savage. He's a lot tougher than he ever gets credit for, he always surprises people with his striking and his BJJ is some of the best in the sport.

That being said, I think Cormier will run through him because of the style match up. Not underestimating Mir or overestimating Cormier. A guy that has extremely good boxing, speed, cardio and who Mir most likely won't be able to take down? I don't see it lasting long.

You can tell right away at the weigh in how good Mir is going to be come fight night......

When Frank isn't fat he's a threat to any heavyweight. When he is fat he's slow and ends up getting knocked the **** out. Frank gained weight to deal with guys like Lesnar and Carwin. That didn't work out to well for him. Look at Cain he weighs about 240 and JDS about the same. You don't have to be 265 to be champ. In fact it's probably the opposite. If Mir weighs in around 245 I think it makes him quicker more agile and he could give Cormier some real problems no matter where the fight takes place.

@p4p i have the exact same feeling about Mir. i'd be surprised if he ever went back to the physique he used to have though.
