it seems griffin has gotten his mojo back and its a hard fight to pick. shogun has had too many surgeries and if he losses to griffin i doubt he will ever be relevant for the title again. that would leave only anderson silva and dan henderson as the only pride guys doing well. might have missed one. it just shows you how brutal the pride fights were. too much wear and tear on the body.

Depends how healthy Rua is and where his mental head is at after the quite frankly humilating beating he took against Jones. Griffin is a scrappy fighter who can give anyone not named Anderson Silva a run for their money and I expect him to give Rua all kinds of problems, just like in their first encounter (which Griffin won in impressive fashion).

I'm going to go with Rua being very motivated in wanting to get another title shot and surviving against Forest. Possible FOTN contender.

Health-wise, there's no way to tell how Rua's doing until he gets back in the cage.  I don't think he will have suffered too much mentally.  He's taken his losses before and came back fine.

I think people are putting too much emphasis on Forest vs Rua I.  Don't get me wrong, it was a great win for Forest.  However, Rua was gassing in the second round and exhausted in the third.

Part II will depend mostly on Rua's cardio I think.  We'll see.  Rua tko 2nd round.

Even if we exclude Forest vs Rua I, I would still say Forest is capable of causing problems for Rua. In other words this won't be an easy match even if for Rua even if he is 100 % healthy

@thiagosilva - I agree the first fight wasn't a fluke. It's a possible that Shogun underestimated Forrest, but the fight was no fluke. There are some things I like about Shogun, and there are some things I don't. One of the things I don't like about Shogun is, he makes excuses for his losses instead of just giving credit where credit is due. Forrest was the better man the night that him and Shogun fought. Shogun needs to just admit that and move on.

As far as the fight goes, I think that Shogun is going to take this one. Main reason. Shogun just got his ass handed to him by Jon Jones, and he wants to prove that was a fluke. What better way to do that, than to the last man to defeat him.

Really though Shogun did not look ready from the weigh ins I picked Shogun but I knew watching the weigh ins Shogun was out of shape and that injury really did affect him... I think Forrest gets a decision but wont be surprised if Shogun comes in shape and knocks Forrest out bad ...

I agree 100%. Shogun/Forrest II is a very tough fight to pick a definative winner because Shogun is still the #2 LHW in the world, and the most dangerous striker in all of MMA, while Forrest is the next generation Randy Couture. In the sense that you can never count him out of any fight.

No matter what, it's going to be one of the most exciting fights of 2011, and quite possibly of all time. The most powerful striker in MMA vs. the biggest heart in MMA. This fight has classic written all over it.

To be honest I do not think Shogun is number 2... I think Rashad has that over him especially if he beats Davis... Yes this fight will be a war and I dont really mind who wins... Not a big fan of either but both cool guys and should make a great fight.

I can't put Rashad at #2. He got KTFO'd by Lyoto Machida. Shogun KO'd Machida. Shogun has only lost to the current LHW champ, and prior to that loss Shogun was the champ. That puts Shogun at #2 in my book. Rashad has to beat Shogun, Machida, or Jones to be ranked higher, and he hasn't done that.

In the same respect, I know that Rashad beat Forrest, Forrest beat Shogun, but Shogun is the more recent former champ. In order for Rashad to get ahead of Shogun on the rankings, he has to beat either Shogun or Bones.

@thiagosilva - you and I have a lot of common beliefs and picks on MMA and MMA fighters, but on this occasion, I have to disagree with you bro. Rashad will more than likely beat Phil Davis, but he will never defeat Shogun or Jones. I don't say Jones/Rampage winner because I know that Rampage will never beat Jones, and neither will Rashad, Shogun, or Rampage on their best days.

The only person I can see stylistcally beating Jones is Machida. That's my honest opinion.
