Neither did i, but it's not that surprising. I'm not sure if his heart is in it anymore, which is understandable. I wish him the best in whatever he does after fighting.

It's and hard to believe the same guy who went 5 rounds with Aldo is the same one who has shown up to his last few fights. I hope he does well in whatever it is he chooses to do, hopefully training others.

I have a feeling he'll come back. He just suffered 4 straight losses. Some time away might do him good. If he doesn't come back, hopefully he succeeds at whatever he decides to pursue.

He might really think he's done but he will fight again and come back as a reborn and focused fighter, fighters and boxers never really need to use the term retire but instead taking a break cause i can't win right now is more suitable.

I also think he will return eventually, but if he doesn't then best of luck to him in whatever he decides to do next. True warrior, seeing him fight Aldo live is something I'll never forget, his entrance ... chills.

Brandt, hit the nail right on the head with Hominick. Nobody was affected by the passing of Tompkins the way Hominick was. truly a pleasure watching his fight with Jose Aldo. His walkout for that fight may be one of the best in the UFC/Zuffa promotion EVER!!! Wish Hominick nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

Yeah 30 is pretty damn young to retire. That death of tomkins really just did a huge number on him mentally. It might be a year or 2 but i think eventually he will be back.

Shawn Tompkins death really derailed that whole camp. Hopefully, if he decides to return, he follows Dan Hardy's path. Title fight, four loses, time to refocus, new and improved fighter. His extra head after the Aldo fight was one of the most amazing/disgusting things I've ever saw in a fight.

As sad as I am to see him retire I'm also glad cause someone like him doesn't deserve beatings like Garza gave him.

I hope he finds the peace he needs. The death of Thompkins really messed with him emotionally and you could see it during his fights. But the 4 beatings he took over an 18 month period were terrible for his body and his mental state. I don't know as he will really retire, but I do see him taking a very extended layoff, possibly 2 years without a pro fight. Where ever he goes in life, I wish him the best because he seemed like a legitimately decent guy. Maybe the UFC will offer him a PR position in their Canadian wing. That would be cool. Make sure he has a steady income and gets to stay around the sport he loves.

Mark Hominick, entertaining but was caught in a slump after facing the champion of Jose Aldo. 2 fight of the night performances and countless entertainment with his 30+ fight record. Thanks for the great memories and Happy Retirement!

I know Mark Hominick personally. he doesn't need fighting . Everything changed once he had his daughter and Tompkins died. He is one fighter I dont think that will come back.
