...which only 15% of you think will happen, will he be the one to move up and face Anderson, possibly going for two titles at the same time?

IDK, but that sure would screw the UFC's plan's up big time.  I bet you they will give GSP an immediate rematch if that happens.

Hmm... you mean there's a possibility that Shields wins tonight, and not GSP?  I don't think anyone's thought about that yet, haha.  So it's a good question, Gloom.

My guess is that Shields would NOT move to 185.  The money-making opportunity in a rematch would be far too great. I imagine they'd put GSP against a credible top contender (Nate Diaz, Rory MacDonald, etc.), give Shields a title defense against someone, and then schedule a monster rematch with a great storyline.

I'm sure they would, but what if Shields pulls a Frankie and wins the rematch too?  Let's say that's the scenario.  Does he get to move up, or does Zuffa make him go through all the WW's before moving up?  After all, Shields handled Dangerous Dan, so we know he can handle a big MW.

@kalibo beat me to it. though I don't know it would be immediate, unless it was a controversial decision like Penn v Edgar or Shogun v Machida.

@Gloom I don't think the UFC in general likes the idea of fighters moving around weight classes. It's when they're out of options that they start considering it.  But if GSP goes down, it opens up the 170 division for a whole new slew of fights without the need to shuffle weight classes. And I think that's their preference.

I kind of think Shields wants to move to MW anyway and only went to WW 1st because of the quicker route to a title fight...I only see an immediate re-match if its a real close fight and a little controversial

I agree with Gregory. If Shields wins a close decision....instant rematch $$$$. If Shields finishes him,  the UFC would drop everything to get GSP a quick win and then another title shot$$$$$$.

And by the way, if Shields wins...I'll run naked down the street while beating my own ass with a willow branch!

I think a willow branch because it's got a lot of flex and will hurt like a son-uv-a*****.

Yes, willow has a nice sting to it when properly administered. And I plan to administer it properly if need be.

Like Kalibo said : I bet you they will give GSP an immediate rematch if that happens.

And I'm sure Shields won't fight Silva. The purpose of this fight (GSP vs Silva) was to determinate the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

I don't think Shields should move up and fight Silva.  The UFC would probably put him up against Fitch, or a immediate rematch with GSP, you know that will happen.
