Dude, chill.

I'm not saying he can't beat him, but 10 out of 10 times? The guy's overshot the thin line between confident and dumb by a million miles.

He's just confident and wants to make up for the last time he fought Aldo.

I think this is self promotion... given his current 3 fight win streak, Cub is very close to that shot and I think he is making it known he's ready and willing ASAP.

And he has KO'd two good fighters in Ross Pierson and Charles Oliveria. I think one more good win puts him across the cage from Aldo.

Confidence and/or self promotion would be saying that he can win. Saying that he'd beat Aldo 10 out of 10 times is almost the same as me saying I could do it. Just dumb. No one would take it seriously so it doesn't promote anything.

The only reason I can think of that isn't just stupidity is if he's trying to piss Aldo off so that Aldo asks for the fight. Aldo doesn't strike me as the in-confident baby that would fall for such a childish trick.

@CONDIT729, you said it, he's still one win against a top 5 fighter away and even then, I don't have any problem with him saying he'd beat Aldo, it's the "10 out of 10" statement that's dumb.

I still say self promotion... a statement like that will garner attention... at it's obviously working.

Could be, I still don't see any chance of him getting the nod before Zombie and/or Edgar unless they get injured so he's wasting his breath.

He's still got another fight in his future before he gets the title shot (maybe Guida or Lamas?) so he'd better concentrate on that instead of self promoting his next title shot.

I'm a huge Swanson fan and think he would do much better this time around, but this comment just seems stupid.

Since he already lost to Aldo, wouldn't it be 9 times out of 10?

I think Cub is legit, and i think he could beat Aldo

10/10 times? obviously not

9/10 times, doubtful.

but all he needs is 1/10 times, and i think he has those odds with him.

Double flying knees are even more of a killer!

^^^Right you are sir

although double flying knees are typically somewhat of an overkill! Im sure just a knee to the face is enough, its just insult to injury when the other knee hits you for the hell of it lol

No....it's good to have confidence but saying he is going to beat him 10 of 10 times when he already lost to him once just doesn't make sense

How about 11 out of 10 times, Cub? Maybe 12 out of 10 times?

You know, I actually really like him saying this.  Considering that we had a guy (Hatsu Hioki) actually decline a title shot because he didn't want to fight Aldo, I love hearing this confidence from Swanson, who's quickly becoming one of my favorite fighters!   Though improving, Featherweight doesn't have the deepest contender list just yet thanks to Aldo and I like seeing guys willing and confident to fight him, not be scared of him and decline title shots!

Is the comment accurate?  Of course not, Aldo would be the favorite for sure in this fight.  Does it sound particularly intelligent?  Not if you think about it.  But I personally don't care.  I love seeing guys who want that title shot and try their hardest to get that fight (and you can make a fair statement that Swanson's one fight away from getting it).

Since Aldo is injured yet again, I say while he recovers, match Swanson up with either Frankie Edgar or Korean Zombie, winner gets the next title shot!   (KZ being more likely since it would be tough for the UFC to pass up on Aldo/Edgar even though I'd like to see Frankie win at least 1 fight at Featherweight before he gets that title shot).

Maybe not the brightest comment ever, but I love hearing it!

@Stickman If Swanson should fight KZ then what should the UFC do with Lamas?
