Now several months later we're seeing how the system needs to be tweaked. There are a lot of old rankings that users have made and haven't updated. As soon as we can, we're going to update it so that old, stale rankings don't get counted anymore.
In the meantime, update your rankings, everybody!! :)

Im currently pretty happy with the ranking system besides that minor part of it.
