Guillard is good but he is not Cerrone good I don't think. Guillard has worked a lot on his takedown defense, but I still think he will buckle to Cerrone and be submitted.

Considering how easily Joe Lauzon rocked Guillard, this should be a fairly easy fight for the Cowboy in front of his hometown crowd. After this, I wonder who they're gonna have Cerrone fight. Wouldn't surprise me to see Pettis (after healing from surgery) come back to fight Cerrone for #1 contender spot, while the winner of Henderson/Edgar II gets Diaz.

I agree, I think Cerrone is the more technical striker and would be able to pick Melvin apart on the feet. Guillard is the stronger fighter so he might be able to keep the fight standing, but if it hits the ground eventually Cerrone (good BJJ) won't have a hard time submitting Guillard (well...terrible BJJ)! My guess would be a Cerrone by Decision or Submission in the later rounds!

Cerrone takes this via RnC in the 1st.
Both of them trained with eachother so they knkow eachother fairly well.
Cerrone has a more crisp striking that can pick Guillard apart. Guillard gets
too wild and looks for the knockout too much. Cowboy will be too elusive.

Guillard has heavy hands but Cowboy 1. knows to avoid them and 2. has a great chin. I'd say Cerrone by decision is fairly likely, but I think he may get a sub.

Guillard could definitely catch Cerrone with a bomb, i think Razor Rob dropped him in their fight. Cerrone's much better now, though. I think he outpoints his way to a decision, but i wouldn't be surprised to see Cowboy get a sub here either.

So happy the cowboy got his fight in Denver! Even happier I'll be there cheering him on!! I'm thinking Cerrone takes his back and puts Guillard to sleep. Hopefully anyway.

Melvin has gotten his back taken in his last 3 fights, and if Camoes can take his back I'm sure Cerrone can.

@jaff, @Fresno I concur w/u both. Also it kills me that Guillard is too confident on the feet, it would benefit him to train straight ground game for 90% of a camp because that's what he needs to do for the next few camps, in a division full of wrestle/sub skilled guys you'd think that would be a no-brainer. Nice guy, though.

I get what you're saying there Fresno but Camoes is a 3rd degree black belt so that doesn't really make sense

It's like saying if Aldo can outstrike Mendes then McKenzie definitely can! haha

But really,I agree with you!

Fabricio Camoes is a beast in the ground, a full straight up beast. Isn't his 3rd degree under Carlos Machado or something? Beast.

The big questions are...........#1. Is Melvin Guillard really back on track, or is he still an easy target for submissions? #2. Will Donald Cerrone be able to erase his loss to Nate Diaz?

Guillard will never be "on track" because even if he fixes his submission defence,he's been dropped and subbed twice in under a minute in 2 separate occasions..

As people who are familiar with Nick Diaz know all too well, you can fix your technique and your style of fighting but after 29 years there isn't a lot you can do with your attitude.

Melvin listens to his own hype far too much and will never be champ imo.

This is Cerrone's fight. I give him the advantage striking and for sure on the ground. Cerrone by RNC in the first 3 mins.

Melvin has had difficulty with savvy submission guys in the past.  Cowboy can strike as well and when he is not fighting anyone from Stockton knows how to utilize that reach.  I see this being Cowboy striking from the outside with low kicks until Melvin gets frustrated.  When Melvin finally rushes in look for Cowboy to fall into guard and triangle or guillotine choke him.  This is just a bad stylistic match up for Melvin.
