Honestly i am suprised Lashley accepted this fight. I understand he's a week out now and been training his ass off so i'm sure he wants to fight, but he went from wanting to fight Fedor to fighting a MW who is supposedly up to 225 and is a body builder..... Even with a win i think Lashley will do more harm than good to his career and reputation with this fight.

Lashley doesn't have much of a reputation as a MMA fighter. He has some potential but he's still an overstuffed MW. He wanted to take it slow and build himself up. He's not really going to be a force until he puts 100% of his focus on MMA and steps up his competition.

This isn't really fair to Lashley, but I'm skeptical he would even take the fight with Wagner or Rosa. Other than calling out Fedor, Lashley's camp has protected him with tailor-made fights every step of the way. Now that Lashley suffered his first loss (against a hand-picked "step up" opponent), another loss would pretty much be devastating as far as trying to convince fans that he was legit.
My guess is Wagner would take the fight in a heartbeat, confident he could score a 2nd win in a row against a big name.

John Ott doesn't even look like a very big middleweight so what the hell is going on here? I understand they need cans for Lashley to crush, but at least get some cans his own size. Props to Ott for taking this fight. I hope he's able to catch some miracle submission while Lashley's pounding away on him.

It's a hand me down fight for Lashley. Some of these smaller organizations are just trying to promote "potential big names" for their organizations. Isn't that what happened with Kimbo vs. Seth P?? That back fired big time. You don't see that with the UFC...sure some guys get overlooked but they don't invest their entire organization on one guy. If the likes of Anderson Silva ever lost it would damage the organziation it would create positive buzz.

I agree with you 100% @LynxGuy - even if Lashley is slowly building his career, he shouldn't be fighting a MW. This is obsurb and i hope he loses this fight and reconsiders his career....

It's simply a showcase fight for Lashley a way for him to add a W to his record and not risk much in the way of losing. Even when he was going to be in against an actual HW it was still a showcase fight, this way it's just much more ridiculously lopsided. Maybe he's just trying to make his record look better on paper to the uneducated eye.
