Week 17 of the 2012 MVP of Tapology is over and all the results are in.
The results are on the first page, below this message.
*From now on, the results will always be posted Monday around midnight.

Those events are still pending and will be added later:
Fight Lab 23

Few changes this week. This is how it'll work until the end of the year.

Every single Tapology member are now in the Free Agents.
Every single trade/switch/move is a 500 points penalty for the team.
Each week, the lowest score of each team is deleted from the weekly team total.
A "MVP week" goes from monday midnight to monday midnight and includes all the events that go official during this time.
I will NOT post updates during the week. The pending events will be added in the next MVP week.

I changed everything in my excel file, the +/- will start next week. You can check the results from last week here

We use the regular Tapology scoring system, with bonus points.

agree with trevpicks. Outside of ACF, the guys who recently quit were already missing events anyway. The replacing of players should keep the team aspect interesting throughout the year. And maybe I'm wrong but I don't see their being over 20 events every weekend.

I agree with Joe on this. When people agreed to do this, they made a commitment to pick the fights.

Here's what I would like to see.

A vacation mode, when someone is on vacation, they can check a box, and they get the majority pick for those fights they didn't pick.

If someone doesn't pick a fight 3 weeks consecutively, they get dropped. Then the free-agents randomly get picked to fill the void for that team. They will be picked randomly to fill the spot, until a permanent team member is named,

Yeah ok you're right, we won't have 20+ events every weekend anyway.

But what about dropping the 2 lowest score instead of only 1? That way it wouldn't be such a drama when a player missed a couple of events.

I just think maybe we should take a more relaxed approach to the standings. Just because you are on someone's team doesn't bind you to making every single pick. You can just pick what you can, and yeah that will hurt your standing and your team, but you get what you put in. If wolf worked well enough to get all his members picking all the fights and the other teams didn't, they should win by thousands. Doesn't mean we can't still have fun tracking it all.

I don't know ACF from Adam, I do know though that he has made every pick this site has offered for over a year now, I feel he might just be fatigued or have something personal in his life going on. I'll believe he is done when I see 0 upcoming picks for him next weekend.

so if someone retires do we still get penalized for picking someone else up?

@ poir420
Yes, sorry.

And what do you guys think of another game like this one, but with only the 3 or 4 most "important" events every week. Only an individual league, no teams or bonus points..

I like the sound of that Wake..or how about an "elite league" where captains send their best pickers against each other in those biggest events..i like the bracket head to head tourny thing as well we should keep doing those

That sucks for me that I'm falling behind because of no Zuffa/Bellator events this weekend though. :( If I can move up one spot to number 4 I think I could be set to start doing better.

So if our best picker retires, we lose an additional 500 points along with our best player?

I'm not too happy about having to pay the penalty.  This is beyond our control.  Obviously we wouldn't be making a move in any other circumstance.

Well aren't most acts of replacing someone due to something outside of your control? But the penalty wasn't my idea, it was something wake implemented to save people from making him do all this work every week. Flying Frontkick retired for us this week too, and I had to take a penalty for him too, I know he isn't ACF but he retired the same.

Fair enough, I missed that he had also called it quits.  As long as it's being applied to everyone in all circumstances, I guess it is what it is.

It was pretty clear when we created the penalty that every single move/trade/switch is a penalty, no matter the reason.

ugh as long as it's paid by everyone, even if this move isn't team-mandated. He retired from Tapology has nothing to do with this league. We shouldn't be taking penalties, but oh well.
