I would think Alves would win this one and send Akiyama packing

I think I've never seen a fighter that's been more ****** than Akiyama in UFC history.

He beats a great fighter in Alan Belcher, so he goes against Leben and gets beat in an epic comeback. Ok, guess we should give him a fight to help him get on the right path again. Oh Bisping? Ok. Let's help him prevent a 2 loss streak, so we'll give him Vitor freakin' Belfort. Oh ok. He's going down to welterweight, let's give him Jake Shields, former title challenger. Oh ok, he has 4 losses in a row but we'll keep him 'cause he's fighting good competition. Let's give him Thiago Alves.

WHERE THE **** IS THE LOGIC IN THAT?

haha that's a pretty good point Anik, they really should have given him an easier match up

This fight should get the Pitbull back on track and Akiyama into retirement...or if you look at Anik's post, he maybe gets Nick Diaz after that. ;->

they should just cancel Hardy's fight with Ludwig and have him fight Akiyama in a loser walks match!

This is getting ridiculous for Akiyama, though I think is a very winnable matchup for him

Alves should TKO him with ease, sorry Sexyama fans.I think Hardy/Akiyama would have made sense, loser leaves.

I cant explain my love for Alves without sounding ****sexual, but I really hope one of them gets injured, prefably Akiyama, so this fight doesn't happen, even though it would be sick. Akiyama's treatment is great/awful. They continue to keep him relevant with super hard match ups but are almost certainly giving him a match thats far too hard for him at the moment, although one he could win if he had more form. Because of Akiyamas constant hunger to fight in all these incredibly hard match ups I wont be sad if Alves loses, because he should be rewarded for the fights he's had.

Akiyama was robbed. He should have gotten Anderson after his fight with Vitor.    D:

Ugh.  This match-up doesn't even make sense.  Akiyama should at the very least get Ellenberger or Diaz.  Seriously, what more does Sexy need to prove before he gets that title shot?  If he doesn't get a shot at Condit or GSP after this fight, all is wrong in the world of MMA.

After this fight I think Sexyama moves up to LHW to fight the Bones/Rashad winner, only matchup that makes sense

Honestly, I expect the UFC to keep Akiyama after this fight "cause he's a gamer" and put him in the very first MMA handicap match ever.

Why do they keep doing this to poor akiyama?

@anik I don't actually feel that fighters should be fired for losing consecutive fights. It's absurd to expect everyone to win frequently, and mathematically unsound. Akiyama is fun and I want to see him fight. Peroiod.

UFC needs to keep its rep of having top notch fighters... Losing 4 in a row in their own organization doesn't exactly express that, but he has been matched up with extremely tough fighters, and thats why he's still in the organization. Personally I thought he looked best against Belcher... His fight with Jake was decent he stuffed most takedowns and had a couple beautiful throws, but Jake was out striking him and Jake's stand up is less than mediocre. Where was the striking he used against Belcher???? Honestly I thought if Akiyama would've put more pressure on Jake he could've won the fight, but he was looking for counters for most of the fight and fending off takedowns from what I remember. Alot of people have different opinions on his last fight, I thought his throws were exciting, but thats about it.
