James Toney Wiki
Truly one of the most accomplished professional boxers of the last 20 years, James Toney went unbeaten in his first 46 matches before losing a Unanimous Decision to Roy Jones, Jr. in 1994. In addition to title wins in the IBF and IBO, Toney holds a notable career victory over Evander Holyfield. In terms of style, Toney is one of the best defensive boxers in the sport’s history, utilizing exceptional head movement and shoulder roll defenses to avoid damaging punches.
In 2010, after pestering UFC President Dana White for months, Toney received a contract to compete in the UFC, making his debut against Randy Couture, with a mission to prove that boxers were superior fighters to mixed martial artists. Like many boxers of his generation, Toney is possessed with a strong sense of self-confidence. However confidence would not be enough as Couture would take Toney down right away and submit him with an arm triangle in the first round before Toney could even land a punch.
