Robinson comes from a boxing background where fought domestically and also represented ireland internationally. He began training and competing in MMA frequently after meeting "next generation/IMMA" founder Rodney Moore. He was asked to participate in MMA sparring with moore, despite the size difference, moore easily out grappled and controlled Robinson. This humbling experience sparked  Robinson to start a competitive MMA career. He now owns and manages his own health and fitness business "Pure Fitness" in Ballymena, northern Ireland.
