FROM FIGHT PROMOTION LEGEND FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP (WWW.LEGENDFC.COM):

Niu is unique among Chinese fighters in that he is not a product of the state-sponsored sports academy system. A native of Henan province, Niu spent several years as a soldier in China’s PLA (People’s Liberation Army), where he first started training in Sanda. He began his professional fighting career in Muay Thai, honing his stand-up skills at Muay Thai camps in Thailand and Boxing camps in the Philippines. With more than 30 Muay Thai victories under his belt, Niu made the transition to MMA in mid-2010. Possessing powerful kicks, good hands, and a strong chin, he is a formidable opponent on his feet, with an ever-improving ground game.
