Tyler Griffin was born and raised in Hobbs, New Mexico. He graduated at Edmond Memorial High School in 1997. During this time is when Griffin began to practice MMA. He graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. Shortly after he graduated Griffin married on 25 May, 2003. They have a daughter.
Griffin is currently a Co-Owner of Oklahoma Martial Arts Academy. He opened his gym in January of 2011.
