Shawn Valentin Wiki

Shawn Valentin is an amateur MMA fighter from Ocoee, Florida. On Friday November 22nd while facing Rory Every in the main event of the evening at Breakthrough MMA 10 in Daytona Beach he was severely injured. Shawn Valentin suffered an extreme elbow breakage while trying to post his arm to break his fall during this fight on November 22nd 2013. In addition to completely blowing his elbow out, Shawn also ruptured main arteries and suffered extensive nerve and tendon damage due to the way his arm was twisted up after it snapped. Shawn went into immediate surgery after the fight where he had veins removed from his leg and transplanted into his arm to repair his arteries. He was looking at a 4-week stay in the hospital for them to keep an eye on his vein transplant to make sure it takes. He could not at the time feel half of his arm and several of his fingers due to the nerve damage, and the doctors wont be able to begin surgeries on this until his previous surgeries start to heal up. Thankfully after a few long surgeries Shawn does still have movement in his arm and fingers. He is recovering well and is looking towards rehab and returning to the octagon once able.

On Wednesday, December 4th 2013, after 5 surgeries in the hospital Shawn Valentin was released from halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach and is currently recovering.
