Wiki
Serhiy Adamchuk Wiki
Born and raised in Kryvyi Rih, in Western Ukraine, Serhiy was raised by his 2 parents - both of whom have endured hard lives working in Soviet era factories for over 40 years. After such a difficult working life of labour, they pushed Serhiy early on to succeed in his education and acedemics, as well as sport.
He would go on to succeed in his parent's dream and education, achieving a law degree, and qualifying to be a full time lawyer. Soon after beginning his full-time lawyer path, Serhiy felt inclined to change career-path for a while.
Like many young kids in the former Eastern-Block countries, he would grow up training and competing in Sport-Sambo and Combat-Sambo, and later on, kickboxing.
After growing up and being 1 year into his lawyer career, he decided to leave the profession, as a means to spend more time perfecting his training for combat sport on the highet level. He began to cross compete more frequently in both MMA and Kickboxing, going 11 - 5, in MMA from 2009 - 2013.
Always having an affinity for the stand-up realm of combat, Serhiy would then choose to focus specifically on achieving success in the world of elite Kickboxing.
He perhaps followed in the footsteps of fellow Ukrainian, and legendary striker - Artur Kyshenko, who had previously moved to Netherlands, to join the notorious Kickboxing stable of "Mike's Gym". Serhiy contacted Mike Passenier, the founder of "Mike's Gym" in Amsterdam, and travelled over there. Upon arrival, he began a daily routine of tuition and training, of the level that could take him to the top of Kickboxing. - Having already built a solid fundamental striking game, and note-worthy athleticism in his martial arts path, he would begin taking on some of the very best strikers in the world, in his weight class. After branching off solely into striking, he went on tobecome a 2015 ISKA European Kickboxing lightweight Champion and eventually Glory Kickboxing featherweight Champion.
Quickly, he would build a reputation at "Mike's Gym" for being a tough character, a man of few words, but always a a formiddable sparring partner, regardless even of weight class. In the build up for "Glory 42: Paris", Mike Passenier stated himself in an interview speaking with "Glory Kickboxing" Media ;
"Every Thursday we have sparring - and he always starts with his sparring helmet on, you know, and then after 5, 6 rounds - the helmet goes off! - and then you know, we start just, fighting! - but not only with, 65, 70, 75 kilo, no! - also the 85 kilos, the 95 kilos, he was knocking just, heavyweights out - " - Mike Passenier via Glory youtube channel ( Glory 42: Paris promo video )
Serhiy has also earned a reputation as an animal lover of sorts, noted for rescuing some of the many spiders who populate the webs in the ceiling corners of "Mike's Gym". He would take them individually by hand, and leave them outside safely, as opposed to Mike or someone else just squashing them.
His 'Glory Kickboxing debut came at "Glory 22: Lille", where he earned an underdog victory against perenial contender and then 42 - 7, Armenian/Belgian athlete - Marat Grigorian. Serhiy would win big again over Uzbek-World Muay Thai Champion Anvar Boynazarov at the 'Glory / Bellator: Dynamite 1' event. After this he was granted a 65kg title fight.
at 'Glory 25: Milan' he would again achieve a mild betting upset, and be crowned featherweight champion after a solid victory against Canadian, and then 11 - 3 Gabriel Varga. At 'Glory 28: Paris, He defended his belt against aggressive Moroccan-Dutch veteran and then - 55 - 13 Mosab Amrani, and followed up with a non-title bout victory over a 120 fight veteran in Palestinian-Danish veteran, Mohammed El-Mir at 'Glory 29: Copenhagen'.
At 'Glory 32: Virginia', he would lose his 65kg title to Gabriel Varga in a rematch. He would come up short again in the 65kg challemger tournament semi final round, when he faced dangerous Georgian Karateka, Giga Chikadze at 'Glory 33: New Jersey', losing narrowly by split-decision.
At 'Glory 39: Brussells, he earned a victory over Belgian, Nafi Bialovski in the featherweight challenger tournament opening round. However, later that night he would lose a closely contested bout with the Thai phenom, Petchpanumrong Kiatmookao, in the tournament finals, missing out on another crack at Glory-gold
At Glory 42: Paris, he rebounded with a hard fought victory over hometown favorite, and then 49 - 14 French ace - Dylan Salvador, which improved Serhiy's own record to 35 - 8.
