WEC 44 Wiki Update Wiki

After defeating former champion Urijah Faber for a second time in June of 2009, Featherweight Champion Mike Thomas Brown was the undisputed king of the division. At WEC 44, however, that would all change, as powerful, aggressive contender Jose Aldo put a brutal end to his title reign with a second-round TKO of the defending champion.

After the win, Aldo—having never lost in the WEC—was considered to have the best chance of going undefeated in his title reign of any of the promotion’s champions.
