Wiki
UFC 90 Wiki
Originally rumored to be facing Japanese standout Yushin Okami in the main event of UFC 90, Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva instead took on Canadian striker Patrick Cote after Okami suffered a hand injury in training. The ensuing fight was universally panned as one of the worst of the year, with Silva electing to counter strike and refusing to engage over the first two rounds before Cote injured his knee and was unable to continue in the third round.
Following the win, UFC President Dana White publicly bashed Silva, saying he was embarrassed by the main event and promising to make it up to fans in the future.
