UFC 61 Wiki Update Wiki

Drawing a live gate of over $3 million and about 775,000 Pay Per View buys, UFC 61 represented a new benchmark for MMA’s mainstream success. Although the main event featured the rubber match between Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, which Sylvia won, the real draw was the light heavyweight bout between TUF 3 coaches and rivals Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock.

It was also announced at this event that UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell would take on Pride FC Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva later that year, but negotiations between the promotions soon feel apart and the fight did not occur until Pride folded the following year.
