Wiki
UFC 41 Wiki
Although UFC 41 did not come close to repeating the huge business that the UFC 40 championship fight between Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock had recently done, the event was still a financial success, drawing about 60,000 buys on Pay Per View.
In the featured bouts of the evening, Tim Sylvia became the Heavyweight Champion by finishing Ricco Rodriguez with strikes in the first round, and BJ Penn and Caol Uno fought to a split draw after five rounds. Without a definitive outcome for the Lightweight Championship fight, the title remained vacant and the UFC abandoned the title for the weight class for a short time afterward. The event also marked the UFC return of fan favorite brawler Tank Abbott, who was submitted by Frank Mir in the first round.
