Strikeforce Wiki Update Wiki

In an event that once again proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Frank Shamrock was still the promotion’s biggest draw, Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz drew more than 15,000 spectators to the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. In the main event, the ever-improving Diaz, who took the fight at a catchweight of 179lbs, soundly defeated Shamrock via TKO in the second round. After the fight, it was clear that Shamrock’s time as an elite MMA fighter was at an end, as he got off virtually no shots of his own during the main event.

The event aired live on Showtime and represented the first card held following the liquidation of the EliteXC promotion, therefore granting Strikeforce access to some of the defunct promotion’s top fighters.
