In one of the most historic fight cards in MMA history, Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg featured the first major MMA event to feature female fighters in the main event, as undefeated Gina Carano took on Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos for the first promotional Women’s Championship. In the main event, Santos eventually broke through Carano’s defenses, finishing her with strikes on the ground with one second left in the first round.

In other action, Dream star Gegard Mousasi defeated Renato Sobral to become the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion, while Gilbert Melendez defended his Interim Lightweight Championship by avenging a loss to Mitsuhiro Ishida.
