doesn't matter if they stopped it early or not  

Ponce was flat out exhausted and didn't look like he was going to last much longer, he was staggering throughout round 5.  It was only going to get worse for him

Man, everything happened just like you said: Ponce started strong, Matias started working with his combinations and the destruction began. Ponce put up a great fight, but that knockdown started more than a really strong shot, it was due to the accumulation of damage from so many combinations, once the fifth round ended the fight was over for Ponce and his corner. Ponce wanted to continue, but it is better to preserve your health in a sport like boxing.
