@mikey Gvodzyk looked like he was point fighting, never throwing with full power or any damaging intent. The crowd was bored as he coasted to the decision

Wasn't Gvozdyk winning most of the fight vs Beterbiev? It's been a while but I remember him making a very good account for himself until getting finished lwte. I heard Gzodyk decided to come out of retirement after Canelo brought him in to prepare for Bivol and Gozdyk was doing really well in sparring that whole camp vs Canelo.

I guess he maybe was just getting back into swing of things? I'd like to see him back doing well. As long as he's not shot because there's some big punchers about who will hurt him if he isn't at 100%
I wouldn't say Gvozdyk was winning. Well, technically, he was slightly ahead on points but for most of the fight he never looked comfortable, in fact he looked like he was stuck in quicksand!!!. It seemed inevitable that Beterbiev would finish him sooner or later . You could see how much energy and effort Gvozdyk was using just to slightly outpoint Beterbiev while Beterbiev was in cruise control, looking strong and hurting Gvozdyk . Again, inevitable! When Gvozdyk 1st fell, he fell apart completely!
Since you mentioned Canelo I'll use him as an example. Remember Canelo vs Billy Joe Saunders? For the 1st 6 rounds Saunders was in the fight, winning rounds. But not for 1 second did you think Canelo would lose! Saunders was fighting at 100% just to outpoint Canelo, kind of. As soon as Canelo turned it up he absolutely destroyed Saunders!
