Quayhagen and Alexander took to the cage for their professional MMA debuts on the preliminary card in the lightweight division.

Alexander came out and landed a leg kick to begin. Quayhaden dodged a straight right and came back with a glancing shot of his own. Quayhagen used a lot of movement to stay away from Alexander. Quayhagen blitzed with a pair of strikes but got hit by a left hand. Alexander slipped on a kick but Quayhagen let him back up. Quayhagen landed a leg kick then a jab. Alexander landed a leg kick. Quayhagen caught a kick and landed some good shots to Alexander's body before separating again. Alexander caught a kick and tripped his opponent, but Quayhagen bounced back up. Alexander landed a hard outside leg kick. Quayhagen caught another kick and went back to the body. Alexander landed another right cross. Quayhagen came in with some hooks that Alexander blocked and the fighters traded leg kicks. Alexander landed another chopping kick to the leg. Quayhagen launched another blitzing combo with a glancing head kick at the end of it.

Alexander landed another leg kick at the start of the second round. Alexander charged forward and landed a right cross. Alexander landed another leg kick but Quayhagen caught it and landed a right cross, causing Alexander to slip to the canvas. Quayhagen let him stand again and landed a leg kick. Alexander continued to block most of Quayhagen's punches as he stalked forward. Alexander missed a right hand and Quayhagen launched some nice boxing combos. Alexander landed a right hook and the two traded shots on the feet. Alexander landed a leg kick. Alexander caught a kick and landed a body kick then a leg kick. Another leg kick landed for Alexander and Quayhagen slowed. Quayhagen knocked Alexander down with a right cross to the body and followed up with strikes, but Alexander reversed him and stood over him at the bell.

After a feeling-out period, Quayhagen caught an Alexander kick and knocked him down with a cross to the body. Alexander was allowed to stand by his opponent. Alexander landed a pair of leg kicks. The fighters landed jabs. Quayhagen came over the top and landed a right cross but took a hard leg kick on the way out. Quayhagen went back to the body with a pair of punches. Alexander landed a left hook. Alexander caught a kick and landed another left hook. Quayhagen caught a kick and took Alexander down against the cage, moving into side control. Quayhagen landed a short right hand and Alexander reclaimed guard. Quayhagen landed a right hook to the body, but Alexander defended well. More short punches landed for Quayhagen before Alexander got back to his feet. Quayhagen landed a knee to the body in the closing seconds.

The judges scored the fight 30-27 across the board for Josh Quayhagen, giving him the Unanimous Decision and the upset.
