Garcia vs. Jung II Wiki Update Wiki
In the first bout to air on the Spike TV televised portion of UFC Fight Night 24, Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung squared off in a rematch of their epic brawl from 2010. Jung came into the bout making his official UFC debut after having his previous Zuffa-owned contests take place in the WEC organization.
The fighters started cautiously with Garcia landing a nice low kick. Nice right hands landed from Garcia, and then a good counter right from Jung connected. The pace began to accelerate with Garcia connecting well with his right and getting the better of the exchanges. Jung dove forward for a takedown, getting Garcia to the mat and working for an armbar that Garcia managed to escape back to his feet form. Jung connected on a knee that may have been while Garcia's hand was on the mat, and Jung was back on top throwing ground and pound against the fence. Jung took Garcia's back with seconds remaining to close out the opening frame.
The second round began with the fighters again more cautious. Garcia connected with a nice flying knee, and then a minute later Jung landed one of his own. Jung found a home for another knee but it remained anyone's fight. An uppercut from Jung landed, and then a flying knee send the crowd into a frenzy. Garcia fell to his back but ate a pair of big elbows from Jung, who then took Garcia's back again but with only 30 seconds remaining. Jung switched to a twister with less than 15 seconds remaining, violently torquing Garcia and forcing the dramatic tapout with just 1 second left.
Speaking to Joe Rogan through his translator in the post-fight interview, Jung commented in Korean, "For all the people that he felt bad to about losing the first fight, he feels like he made it up to them... He's been watching Eddie Bravo's videos on youtube for a long time... practicing against his teammates and hopefully he gets the submission of the night with that one."
