Larkin vs. Foster Wiki Update Wiki

In the first televised bout of Bellator 37, Eric Larkin took on Kenny Foster in a featherweight tournament quarter-final matchup. Both fighters came into the bout with 1-0 records in Bellator competition.

Larkin came forward stalking Foster early, but then ate a right hand from Foster and then a knee to the head as he looked for a takedown. Blood immediately started flowing from the heavily favored Larkin in a dramatic start to the fight. Back standing, Larkin threw a high kick that sailed above Foster's head. Larkin was stuffed on his next takedown attempt, but a moment later tripped Foster and momentarily took his back. Foster skillfully escaped back to his feet. Foster then put the Larkin on his back, snaked around a guillotine choke, dropped back onto his back and locked in the choke. Larkin had no choice but to tap in a major upset to kick off the tournament.

Speaking with Jimmy Smith in the post-fight interview, Foster commented, "I worked real hard for this and I was confident... I wanted to throw some bombs at him and make him react... I felt like when I hit him and he saw the blood that I broke his will... I'm coming and I'm glad to be here and glad to be going to the next round, anybody that overlooks me is making a mistake."
