Late in the first round Khamzaev was kicked to the body and fell on the mat in pain, unable to continue. The referee mistakenly thinking he was kicked in a groin (despite Khamzaev himself telling him "I was kicked in the liver"), allowed him 5 minutes to recover and ordered the bout to continue, which Khamzaev ultimately won via a Unanimous Decision. Nakajima's team appealed the decision and Khamzaev confirmed that no illegal action took place and as such ACB decided to overturn the original decision win to a TKO win for Nakajima occurring the moment Khamzaev was unable to continue.
