In the fourth bout of UFC 129, Ivan Menjivar took on Charlie Valencia in a matchup that streamed live on Menjivar came into the bout 0-2 in prior UFC/WEC competition, while Valencia entered at 5-4 in prior WEC fights, and was making his debut in the UFC.

Valencia attacked with a kick to the midsection, while Menjivar came back with one of his own. The fighters clinched up and a pair of nice elbows connected in the clinch from Menjivar. The second elbow crushed Valenci's nose, sending him to the mat and covering up. Menjivar blasted away with punches as Valencia turned, forcing John McCarthy to jump in at just 1:30 of the opening round.

Speaking with Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview, Ivan Menjivar commented, "Man we love the sport, I wish everybody continues to support us, and thank you to TriStar gym... thank you to everybody the gym, my God, thank you everybody!"
